I love that Aunt Sal gave Phil, Grant and Sam £100k but no mention of anything for Billy, I guess that explains why he didn't come to the funeral.

Well Billy isn’t related to Aunt Sal.

Although with his dad being there I wouldn’t be surprised if we were in for a retcon of some kind.

Oh the RAGE that simmered within me upon realising it wasn’t on this evening. FUCK OFF.

WHY don’t they just change the channels? It’s not like CELEBRITY ANTIQUES TRIP is particularly essential viewing that can’t be postponed.

It makes sense, more than half of the lot/premise is the actual size Holby City hospital/set that is basically just weird makeshift meeting rooms and training day venues for random BBC stuff now Holby City has been axed.

Just how big is that Slater house? Who is living there exactly?

Stacey
Lily & Charlie XCX
Hope & Arthur
Jean & Harvey?
Eve & Suki

At one point Freddie and Alfie were there. And now she still has room for Kat, Tommy, Bert and Ernie?

It can’t be more than 3 beds surely?

Well Jean lives downstairs. Maybe Hope and Arthur are still in with Stacey? LOFT CONVERSION?

They were doing a loft conversion during the bad old days when Hayley was there, I think?

Great episode tonight. Love Peak Kat.

I thought that was one of Jessie Wallace's best performances since returning (not that she's had a lot to do). The expression on her face when she said to Phil, "I can see it in your eyes", was like a proverbial gut punch.

I actually think Steve McFadden and Jessie Wallace bring the best out of each other as actors; the scenes between them tonight were great. Yet, it still doesn't feel like the show has ever fully committed to "Kat Mitchell", and tonight's episode didn't fill me with much hope that they will, either. The breakup seemed a little too easy.

To think there was a point in time where the conspiracy that Jessie Wallace and Steve McFadden weren't allowed to have scenes together after a massive falling out about Barbara Windsor trying to get Jessie Wallace fired for being unprofessional.

Sad to see Sam go, but I guess it's Daniella Westbrook's turn.

Sam hasn't been great this time around, and I put that totally down to her being written like the Daniella Westbrook iteration. I guess in terms of character consistency, that probably shouldn't be a criticism. But there was always an element of Daniella Westbrook's off-screen persona spilling over to Sam Mitchell (particularly her later stints), and Kim Medcalf doesn't exude the same energy.

The character of Sam has no hope when they're flipping back and forth between two very different actresses each time she comes back. And there's no time for either one to really establish their own version when they're only in it for a couple of months at a time.

I don't need to see Daniella's Sam ever again, and don't bother bringing Kim back if she's going to spend most of the time offscreen.

It's so annoying because Steve McFadden and Jessie Wallace are brilliant together, and there was a time that their characters worked really well together too, but I feel like the powers that be have been setting them on a long slow road to separation for a year now and just completely stopped investing in the pairing.

Annoyingly this inevitably means we're going to get at least one Kat/Alfie or Sharon/Phil reunion and really where is there left to go with either of those couples? If they're going to make Kat skint again this also slightly damages the fantastic Kat/Sharon dynamic too as I feel like they need to have similar "status" for that to work.

I agree, they were definitely positioning Kat and Sharon as Pat and Peggy style frenemies for a while and it would be a shame to lose that.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard something about Kat possibly getting into a relationship with Nish... unsure how I'd feel about that, but it could be interesting I suppose.

I was half tempted to drop off but now we’re getting iconic Kat moments so looks like I’m going nowhere :disco:

Well we saw the seeds being planted tonight, although I feel like it must be a plot device for something else. That does seem like a bizarre match.

At least they went into great detail about where everyone is sleeping in the Slater house tonight. :D

Forgot this was on tonight. Cindy coming at Bobby was quite something.

I can't believe they've made Michelle have a hysterectomy just so James Bye can have a panto break :( That POOR WOMAN!

Would Michelle really need Martin, Sharon and presumably Vicki and Spencer who are already in Australia to take care of her after a hysterectomy?

Tonight’s episode is INFURIATING for almost its entire running time.
