EastEnders 2024 (2 Viewers)

Oooh I didn't see that coming. I found it a bit unsatisfactory for some reason, I preferred Dean getting done for it.
 
I quite liked it as an arc for Nish’s character… it was unexpected but kind of made sense.

As a conclusion of The Six’s story on the other hand…
 
Surely the six stuff is far from over. There's still plenty of people to find out, revenge from Dean (I believe he is involved in the 40th) and the truth always outs somehow.
 
It did kind of feel like a line was being drawn under it last night, although I'm sure there'll continue to be aftershocks from it for some time. It's an awkward one in the sense that they can't really have the truth come out to EVERYONE as it would mean 6 lead female characters going to prison.
 
Yes I think it looked like it was over and done with when the camera drifted from the 6 standing on the square together.
 
Catching up, the scenes with just Penny and the Keanu 2.0 mechanic guy are diabolically acted :D I actually can't believe it. Two planks of wood.
 


With Wallace & Gromit and Gavin & Stacey both on the bill along with the usual Christmas evening shite we’ll be lucky if Eastenders is on before midnight this year. :zombie:
 
What a disgrace. Surely Call The Midwife must be set in the eighties now by this point with the amount of episodes and series its been generously commissioned.
 
Why on earth would they move Gavin and Stacey when it's their biggest and most anticipated show? The schedules are surely being built around it.

Why would they change Gavin and Stacey? That is going to be the most watched show by a country mile surely?
 
If anything, I think the BBC ought to drop EastEnders on iPlayer earlier in the day and then broadcast it at 10pm or even prime time Boxing Day. The EastEnders audience is used to having to find it.

I’m not sure that would have worked last year when they outcome of the Christmas episode was so hotly anticipated. Even if the difference in viewing figures wasn’t all that much, the viewers wanted a common experience.
 
Even though I like Rob Brydon, I just have a strong dislike of Corden and Horne.

But even with that anticipation, the BBC saw fit to push it to 9.45pm last year, so I don't think they were THAT concerned about some of the audience missing it and having a shared experience.

If the schedule is looking stacked this year, and EastEnders isn't particularly building to a huge storyline, I wouldn't be surprised to see the BBC consider a different approach, rather than potentially loosen their grip on Christmas Day.
 
I imagine they're going to be building up to the 40th in February (and saving resources/story), so they're effectively "sitting this one out" after a big Christmas last year.
 
Incidentally, just comparing to last year, over the last 4 weeks it's tracking down week on week in comparison 2023 - down just over 300k viewers on average. Coronation Street is down just over 200k for the same period.

tbf it is really bad right now, at least where I am up to (a week or 2 behind). Who gives a fuck about Tommy, Amy in a wheelchair or who Avani is shagging.

Ooh, Laura Doddington! I saw her in a play a couple of years ago and she was fantastic! We walked out of the theatre Googling her, wondering why she wasn’t incredibly famous.
 
Why are people always doing secretive things on their laptops in a communal area? Isn’t that the point of a laptop? Take it to the bathroom or your bedroom.

I once held a door open for her and she walked through and didn't acknowledge me. So I called her a miserable cunt.

(Which, sadly, she also didn't acknowledge, but I like to think she heard...)
