She didn’t take much leave, but it was definitely more than it appeared on screen. They were clever about how they used her.Did Lacey Turner not take any maternity leave after her last baby?
I think she went on leave at Christmas and wasn’t back filming full time until early May.
In that time she came back to do the live episode and I think three short stints (Martin’s funeral, her breakdown and the first scenes with Zoe).
I would imagine those three bits were each done in a day of intensive filming. She didn’t interact with many characters outside of her storylines (she was absent from Bernie’s exit with The Six for example) which suggests her scenes were filmed out of step with the rest of the show.
So she did have some time off but her time on screen was spread out well enough that it wasn’t hugely noticeable.

That’s ridiculous. The character has had next to nothing to do since Ben left anyway, but with nearly 20 years on the show he doesn’t deserve that at all.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d been on the chopping block with this new producer anyway - as people have said, it’s not exactly like the character has done all that much.
But the character deserves better in the sense it’s a shame he’ll just be hastily written out off screen never to be spoken of again!
