The end scene with Stacey shrieking then it running in to Julia’s Theme did tug at my heart strings.

Disappointed they carted Cindy off in the previous episode so we didn't get to see her chewing the scenery in real time.

One good thing that comes out of this is the horcrux of Lola finally being destroyed. Though no doubt she pre-recorded a USB stick video message for Jay and Lexi in the event there's an explosion in The Vic.

That said, killing off a proper long-term character did save the episode somewhat.

Angie's ghost and Sharon was a genius scene and totally worked in the eerie setting of the Vic. Absolutely brilliant and best part of the week

The Reiss stuff was brilliant too! From him popping round with a "good luck" card for Sonia And "Sounds like congratulations are in order!" and "That was close!" *THUD!* It was a brilliant dose of comedy. Over the years people have always said EastEnders couldn't do comedy. Yes it can, and in a far better way than Corrie can these days

There was rumours about Martin being killed but I never thought they'd actually do it It's shocking in one way because he's an original character but on the other hand i've always thought of James Alexandrou as Martin and never took to James Bye in the same way. I think they needed a big death for the anniversary and this was it

The Phil stuff was fantastic too, Steve just knocks it out the park again and again. In whole, it was a brilliant week but not perfect as parts of it did drag on. It still completely blows the other soaps out of the water though and it's a shame viewers still favour Corrie and Emmerdale more. Corrie especially is not in the same league. I do hope EastEnders makes 50?

Not a chance! The soaps are not getting any new viewers and most of the avid viewers have died off. I think they will all struggle to be here in the next 5 years as they just don’t really fit in to the new tv viewing habits.

It's interesting at work this week I was asking 'omg who saw Eastenders last night?!' and no one responded! They're all in their early 20's. I feel like back in the day everyone would have been talking about it

One million percent. I think the last live episode got over 10 million overnight, and this one got over 3? It’s lost 7 million viewers in 10 years.
