Easter Sunday is a rascal whore

I checked the police website and it does say unless it's an emergency, please refrain from calling them.

Judging by their twitter presence, the police are VERY busy prowling inessential aisles of supermarkets and tracking down hardened criminals who have chosen to sit down in public.

Quite dystopian feeling in the park which has installed LOUD SPEAKERS telling you to KEEP MOVING and NOT TO SIT DOWN.

All TOTALLY normal things that are actually happening, EVERYTHING IS FINE.

The two main entrances of my local park were fenced off in the week, which seems more than a little futile, given that one side of it is completely open anyway. So all it served was to make people who walk through it on the way to Tesco and Aldi have to walk a lot further all the way around it, while the people who want to get in for whatever reason still can anyway.

All the council run cemeteries have been closed as well. Is that the same elsewhere?

Parks closed. Cemeteries closed. Where are you meant to get bummed by a white van man in this sort of environment?

I said hello to a pair of police officers in the park. They weren't making any effort to reprimand the very few individuals sensibly being outside.

Just out the front doing another spot of gardening and heard from a neighbour that the old lady two doors down died in a nursing home two days ago (non COVID related). She was 90.

Doesn't seem like that long ago I had to go and get her out of her car and call an ambulance after she drove at speed into her garage door, but Mr L tells me it must be the best part of a decade.

So I'm just sat at the laptop, playing Candy Crush and flitting between websites with my Apple Music running in the background. I have just this moment realised that Funky Cold Medina is about dropping date-rape drugs into womens' drinks!

I had a Sunday lunch video chat with some friends so I made a proper roast lamb dinner. It's now time for my daily walk but I've had two thirds of a bottle of Prosecco so am finding it hard to drag my arse off the sofa.

WHAT!

Am currently amused reading the lyrics about him taking home a girl called Sheena who turns out to be a man. :D

After being a member of moopy for several weeks, having assumed that all of the female names were females, it was something that Sheena wrote that clued me in to the fact that I was labouring under a misapprehension and that single line of Funky Cold Medina stuck in my head for days and kept making me smile to myself - "when she got undressed, it was a big old mess, Sheena was a man!"

RIP Betty

TA-RA COCK.

She looked a bit more like Phyllis Pearce, but I bet she could turn out a mean hotpot.

Whatever happened to BETTY of So Graham Norton fame? I assume she must also be DEAD. :(

Wikipedia says it's a cocktail.

Maybe it is then, maybe I'm too far into this bottle of advocaat that was left over from Christmas and maybe my neighbours are slagging off my singing on social media like I did with their shit music the other day. Who knows or cares? Certainly not me because very shortly I'll either be watching/narrating/dancing with the dog to my favourite drunken film or talking to Hughie on the big white phone :D

She died pretty recently. He mentioned it on the show, and I think there was an 'in memory of' picture at the end as well.

From the show broadcast on December 21st 2019

At the very end of episode 12, Graham paid tribute to Betty Hoskins and said: “And very finally, I’d just like to remember our good friend Betty Hoskins who passed away this week. She played an enormous part in the success of our show in the Channel 4 days and for that, we will always be so grateful. Our thoughts are will Betty’s family and friends, she’ll be missed.”

Which has also been DEBUNKED or, at the very least, has been stopped by the government's latest discussion on the subject.

What IS it with people desperate to follow some kind of anti-authority rhetoric when THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE DYING EVERY FUCKING DAY!

I would have thought she died at least a decade ago but maybe she wasn’t as old as she seemed back then. It must have stopped broadcasting around 20 years ago. RIP BETTY INDEED.

She was 97, and I had no idea she was a former dinner lady at Graham’s former drama school.

I had to go into the garage and have a dig around for a, well, let's just call it an ITEM earlier.

The change of scenery was like discovering a new house. I'm going to get the sun lounger up and sit in there for the rest of the night, I think.
