TONIGHT 9PM LET'S BOP

I will politely decline as I don't want to ruin your party :D Hope you enjoy though as much as Ellie obviously enjoyed riding a horse into town

Presumably there is room for both this and The Stud?

Yeah I was going to say, I don't think I've listened to this intro in years. It sounds like something from a different Ellie album

Delirium Intro bears as much relation to the music that will follow as Chromatica I :eyes: it is quite HAUNTING and MYSTERIOUS! makes me want to put on a CAPE and ride a HORSE over a MARSH during a DAMP, FOGGY EVE :disco:

"Aftertaste" is such a great opener. The percussion in the chorus is everything.

the transition into Aftertaste is so smooth.

this has long been a favourite of mine* and I think it could've been a GREAT UK single. it has that anthemic sound radio and the straights would've lapped up. and it's not a million miles from the likes of Figure 8 (albeit less electronic) so it makes sense as the opening track here, as a kind of bridge between two very different soundscapes.

*may write these words this approx 14 times in the next hour

09 Aftertaste

08 Intro - Weird to rate, but here we are
06.5 Aftertaste - @POP! is right about the percussion but I don't find this one particularly memorable. A not quite as good version of what's to come

written with and produced by GREG KURSTIN, one of pop's great names of the last 15 years. more reliable than Max Martin in my opinion.

Was "Something in the Way You Move" a hit ANYWHERE? It's such an ANTHEM

it has 115m streams, which is not bad. it made 43 on the Hot 100 and 51 in the UK but performed strongly on iTunes US for quite a while. baffling they gave it a live video and abruptly stopped pushing it when it was clearly on the edge of becoming a hit :( just one of many odd career choices for OUR ELL.

and a SMASH it is. such a lovely, propulsive rhythm to it.

09 Something In The Way You Move - I heard this on the radio a lot when it was new, but I guess it wasn't really a HIT. Ellie sounds great here and the chorus erupts

08 Keep On Dancing - So not Ellie, but I love the whistling(?) in the chorus. Good beat too

Cancelling RJN after that lukewarm rate.

Keep On Dancin' the album's first foray into mechanical electro territory. It kind of sounds like a slightly more blatant attempt at a top 40 radio hit, but the repetition is pulled off quite successfully imo. the whistles and her falsetto BVs whip up quite a state of hypnosis. Another Ryan Tedder effort, after Burn. it's aged well.

08 On My Mind - I was very disappointed by this at the time, but I guess it did its job as a hit. I like it much more now. The lyrics are about Ed Sheehan right? They're kind of MEAN

"You were talking deep like it was mad love to you
You wanted my heart but I just liked your tattoos"

"On My Mind" is so clinical and cold, but it kind of works. Still a bit mind boggling they didn't go for SITWYM as the lead single though. I guess "On My Mind" is a little more palatable for the str8s @Eddie
