English and Welsh Local Elections Day - May 2024

How are you voting?

  • Total voters
    25
Lib Dem (police and crime commissioner election) based mostly on the fact that of the four candidate manifestos, his seemed to be the only one written by an actual person rather than an AI-generated script.

How would Enya vote if she was British?

She wouldn't.

She would fall foul of Margaret the voting clerk's insistence that psionic image projections do not qualify as photographic ID.

And hell would truly break loose when she would snub the mandated stubby pencil in favour of her own fairie-crafted quill.

Sorry to waste my right to vote but couldn't be arsed. Got my polling card ready and it was only to elect a police, crime and fire commissioner? Looked it up and there were only representatives from the big 3. So the smearing of the local Green was unnecessary too. Didn't care enough.

First sign of the possible consequences of Labour's position on Gaza - they've lost Oldham, which has a sizeable Muslim population, to a number of independent candidates.

The dial barely moved here. One Lib Dem went Labour (a continuing trend) and the Greens won back from Labour after a defection.

This fantastically named new councillor is the self proclaimed protégé of one Mark Goacher.

Tories have most wards, but Lib-Lab have more and remain in control.

No council result yet, but Labour has gained the Avon & Somerset PCC from the Tories.

Obviously Bristol is already pretty red and green, so hopefully the PCC going red is a sign that the blue surrounding it in South Gloucs and Somerset may be changing hue at the GE.

A councillor by-election in a stonking rich area here went from Tory to Tory and the local Tory media are running it as headline news that the Tories have won a RESOUNDING VICTORY :eyes:

You know you're in the shit when HOLDING A SEAT is a victory!

Tories seem to held onto Tees Valley mayor but with a big swing to Labour

GOOD - Hopefully they will start reaching further right to win back ThE rEd WaLl votes

"We have beaten him as a general rule, but"

What the fuck does that even mean? :D We would have won if we had the votes!

To be fair, Labour spokesperson has condemned it and said it’s come from somebody not speaking of behalf of the party. So either a random or somebody is getting the sack pretty imminently.

Galloway having influence here is pretty fucking depressing.

Looking at the swing to Labour in the NW and NE of England, even in races they didn’t win, it would completely wipe out the tories in those areas in a GE, like, nothing left at all 👀

Holding the Tees Valley mayoralty is, to be fair, quite impressive considering the swing elsewhere

Labour have beaten Jamie Driscoll (Ex-Labour now Independent) in North East
