Enya 'predecessors'

When Enya goes eventually... the love and recognition from actual fans is still going to be the same, but I imagine her talent being realised by more who dismissed it. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

The outpouring will be rather big, then again there are always people being like 'I thought they died ages ago' ๐Ÿ˜… and others who are more casual fans who don't find out for ages.

Enya's mother has officially outlived Gina Lollobrigida
(La Lollo was 95 when she died; 34,923 days. If Baba was born Sept 8, 1930, according to this post, she is 34,924 days old. :disco:)

I fear we won't see Enya again until her mother's funeral. Hopefully, that day is a long way off. I wish her mother all the best with her health.๐Ÿ™

I think we'll see her again; Enya has not really disappeared for longer than a couple of years. Since her career began it's the years ending in 4 that are when she's least seen (to my knowledge no 1994 nor 2014 photos)

By the way regarding this picture of Moya and Jessie Buckley, it wasn't actually her last photo/from March; it was from 2022 :o someone else found this from some private Clannad facebook group

Usually I don't take much notice of the new-age recommendations Spotify sometimes shares after Enya songs, but just heard this beautiful track, released 1988 ๐ŸŽผ๐Ÿ’™

The guy who composed this was harpist Hilary Stagg; there's a bit more about him here https://chessaleeinlondon.wordpress.com/2007/12/08/hillary-stagg/ and someone mentioned that he passed of an AIDS-related illness in 1999. ๐Ÿ’ญ

Not sure if he is the vocalist here or more like Enigma 'hiring' others; nice vocal layers (a couple of years before Enya released The Memory of Trees).

I supposed they co-existed rather than him preceding by a long time, but I just thought I'd share a memorable recommendation. ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐ŸŽถ

Eithneโ€™s parents of course, but there's also her father's sister Rosemary she bears some resemblance to. โ™ก
Enya's father Leo is the 4th man

This was her debut album (released in 2022) ๐ŸŒŠ

I hope to listen to more of this one, Travesรญas (released last year, even got a mention here as one of the best Latin American albums of 2025) :disco:

(These were all composed/recorded between 1986-1994, so it's possible she did some after Enya, but of course precedes her as well.) โ™ก

I hope Oksana Linde is okay ๐Ÿฅฒ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ (she was born in/probably lives in Caracas, Venezuela)

How did we lose Bill Oddie and Moya the same year
Bill Oddie (1941-2026) and Moya Brennan (1952-2026) one of my early favourites and favourite's sister

(I searched 80s Enya and Google Images gave me these)

Well I'd like to think Enya knows a bit about birds and birdwatching. :laugh:๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ‘€

@IslandAngel I guess you might know a few? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽถ
Hmm, Enyaโ€™s inspirations appear to be all over the place just like her music tastes, but the big three are classical, trad, and the church music. ๐Ÿ˜…

I still havenโ€™t thought of specific artists thoughโ€ฆ

But in general, Enya is a pop musician at heart and it shows especially in the later albums.
