I suspect the BBC will continue to see the positives in promoting taking part in Eurovision as something that can launch a long-term career.

Yeah we'll see how the album does this week, but I'm pretty sure Sam Ryder is a bona fide light entertainment star now.

AJ & Rylan will host the semi-final allocation draw on the 31st.

The theme and slogan (which looked to have been leaked a few weeks ago) will also be revealed during the draw.

I hope this is a good indication that AJ will be one of the contest hosts.

Can't believe it's going to be on primetime BBC2 !

I didn’t realise that they’ve never broadcast the semi finals before live and this is the first year. It’s going to be so much bigger this year and generate a whole new audience.

They always broadcast them live, just not on BBC1/2

This is just the allocation draws!

I think the semis will be on BBC1, or did I Mandella that?

Yeah, I know, but funks was referring to the semi finals themselves.

Of course, they've never ever actually broadcast a DRAW before! This is kind of insane! :D

I’m loving how extra the BBC are :disco:

All Melfest heats to be broadcast live on BBC One please!

Is this really the BBC going all out, or is a lot of it just the norm for host broadcasters to comply with EBU requirements?

There's no requirement to broadcast the semis on the primary channel, or the allocation draw at all. Just makes sense when you're hosting the thing I guess.

The problem with the semi finals being so visible is that I know I’ll have friends watching them for the first time and asking me which semi the UK is competing in, and why Australia and Israel are allowed to take part.

I've spent years working on ironing out such issues.

Slap them.

Yes, the more coverage we get the more we’ll have devoted_dad46 asking why we pay for this rubbish when we never win anyway, and lefty_agenda pointing out that even Adele herself would not win

I would like answers to these questions please.

Anyway my main conundrum is how I can get involved with this and show some moppettes a good time around the Pool, while simultaneously never listening to a single song or attending any events

Didn't you profusely hate Eurovision? What made you change your mind? (if so)

They’ll have to spend 20 minutes explaining in simple terms what will happen cause locals don’t even know there are 2 semi-finals let alone an allocation draw.

No I don’t hate it at all, I just play along with the grumpy old funky facade

(Yes it is a facade shut up everyone)

I’ll get involved this year of course and I want to be part of the atmosphere, but for example the nightclub they’re creating which will open for 3 weeks and play Eurovision tunes all night every night fills me with DREAD :D
