EDIT: In fact more than that, when we finish the renovations we’ll fit in 23k, no doubt to compete with the new arena

eh? Liverpool has as many hotels as any city outside London. We have more hotels than we know what to do with.

Also I don't know anyone who in their right mind would have a night out in Liverpool and stay in Manchester :D are you INSANE? They're close but not that close!
 
The host nation generally gets a big ratings boost for all the shows. I'll be interested to see if they stay on BBC1 in 2024.

But I’m choosing to be impressed rather than horrified, and I can’t imagine what it’s bumping from the Sunday afternoon schedule really.
 
I wonder if campsites will be bumping up their prices too or will that be a bit of a loophole to exploit? Especially some a few miles out but affordable taxi distance. We have a camper so hoping we can get in close-ish that way. Trouble is campsites you usually pay on arrival so they could probably whack on a few hundred quid literally DAYS before if they're so inclined.

Failing that there seem to be some overnight parking options in Liverpool so maybe we can rock up close for next to nothing and slum it in some grotty car park :disco: Wouldn't be the first time (or even the 50th time)
 
Also slightly OT, but I can't stop thinking about it - can you imagine, after all this amazing fuss, a reason to celebrate, Sam's success and hosting, the unbelievable horror if we go from all that to a Josh Dubovie year. I can't cope with that level of DYING LIVE ON AIR under such circumstances.

I mean, we surely won't (right? RIGHT?)...but it keeps crossing my mind :zombie:

After all of the talking heads unanimously (and correctly) agreeing why we did well last year after 20 years of nothing, we've got to cling onto hope they'll move in the right direction this time.
 
Today is the last day that countries can withdraw without a penalty, so we should have a good idea on the remaining outliers pretty soon.

We're still awaiting news from:
  • Armenia
  • Bulgaria
  • Czech Republic
  • Moldova
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
Of those I'd be very surprised if Armenia or Moldova were out, they probably just haven't finalised their selection process yet. The others are all potential flight risks.

Interestingly, three countries that have been gone for a while have yet to rule themselves out publicly, though I'd be very surprised if any of them did come back.

  • Turkey
 
If I were Turkey, which thankfully I am not, re-joining Eurovision would make sense solely for the purposes of promoting use of their silly new name.
 
Do we think Armenia are at risk with the political situation there at the moment? I know we're not hearing much in the media but things are still quite hot there.

In fact is JUNIOR EUROVISION at risk?????!!!! :shock:
 
I think Montenegro are in. I’d be surprised if North Macedonia were out considering the noises they were making about setting up some kind of Eurovision task force.

Yes though I can't shake the feeling Sam was a bit of an outlier - it was his incredible voice and performance that sold it, absolutely not the song (well, I think). A performer of Sam's ability will be hard to match. Hopefully they're working just as hard on a song.

I'm sure you're right, everyone must realise especially presenting on home turf, but it's hard not to feel a tad nervous
