I said ALMOST
how many other host flops have we had? Between Kyiv 2017 and Rotterdam 2021 haven’t all the hosts been bottom 5?
Yeah but before that..

Frans finished 5th
That awful Danish one was top 10
Azerbaijan finished 4th
Lena was top 10
Serbia 6th…

DID I SAY forever and for always? I certainly didn’t just cherry-pick examples! Where was Norway 2010, Sweden 2013? Austria 2015?

We're Number One!

(Oh)

North Macedonia out too apparently..

This isn’t an official social media account but it hardly bodes well.

Dropping like flies, are they scared of those savage Britons? I heard they eat babies and pigs in blankets.

When is this HOT SHIT starting? I will be suffering listening through every single national final this year.
Probably later than normal. It's not yet confirmed whether the Czechs have dropped out, but either way, they don't look like they'll be doing a public selection this year, and in recent years it's usually been one of the first, kicking off around December time.

Ukraine are holding their selection early on the 17th December! :disco:

Much as I'd like that, do they need to prop up numbers? It'd just be less countries in each semi surely?
Exactly. It’s always a shame to lose a couple, but I don’t see how it’s the disaster some commentators are making it out to be, or what the problem with smaller semi-finals would be.

Would anybody really NOTICE the difference between a 35 song contest and a 40 song contest?

In fact if the semis need to be padded out a bit then now is the perfect year to have that problem considering all the various ideas for British and Ukrainian show elements that will no doubt be floating around production meetings.

Frankly, if the average entry level stays as competitive as it has been in recent years, I might actually be quite GLAD OF IT come the semi results. Semi 2 this year especially would've likely been relieved a bit on how ludicrously brutal it ended up being if it had been pared back to 15 entries rather than 18.

Quite a troll move if they go to all the trouble of a live stream video and everything only for it to be what we already thought :D but it’s also what I expect (if not even worse, if the Czechs aren’t in)

I think they’re just looking to make everything into “content” these days, so I’m not reading anything into it.

Indeed if there was a surprise debut or huge returnee, I’d imagine they’d have given that a bit of fanfare of its own rather than just announcing it as part of a list.

Thrilled we're not losing the Czechs. They were such a highlight last year.

So Bulgaria, Montenegro and North Macedonia are out. Big shame, but nothing we didn't already know.
