Apparently they are also striking on the day of the FA Cup Final as well, clearly just to fend off accusations of homophobia.
 


According to this letter, eight countries in semi final 1 are pissed that the press centre doesn't open earlier because it limits their promotional opportunities :hostage:

Interesting. I hadn't quite realised the rehearsals being closed to press meant the post-rehearsal interviews round was being terminated too. Odd decision.

So we're not going to hear a thing next week are we?
 
Are there any rehearsals that press can see before the live shows start? Or do the press get no advanced preview at all, and just see things live at the same time as the public?

I understand the reasons for the change but I'm going to miss the rehearsal week hysteria.

30 second clips of the first rehearsals on TikTok, 30 second "as seen on TV" clips of the second rehearsals on YouTube. Live blog on the Eurovision website and backstage interviews on YouTube with Rylan and Clara Amfo (similar to the thing Nikkietutorials did a couple of years ago). Presumably lots of nonsense social media content too if that's your thing.

EuroClub and other venues are apparently being opened up to press who want to conduct interviews with the artists, and presumably the delegations will do the usual booking of hotel suites and such to conduct interviews of their own, but I guess their main concern is that the press centre not being open until the Monday means a lot of media won't even bother coming in the first week.

There are the usual "meet and greets" with the artists (hosted by Timur) but I believe they are being streamed rather than open to the press to ask questions.

There has been a gradual shift over the past few years to give more limited access to press. It really only affects the fan press because the majority of mainstream press don’t really arrive or do work until a few days before the live shows. They’ve been really pushing the official site a lot more the past few years and I guess it’s partly to do with commercial reasons as they will now get a lot more hits, but also probably due to the behaviour of some (not all) of the fan sites and their mindless questions and requests for interviews that get a small number of views as there are so many of them.

I know that they’ve been quite generous with accreditations this year, in previous years there were a lot of rejections but from what I can gather most who have applied have got some sort of accred whether that be onsite or online. That could be to the number of applications being down due to the more limited access.

I didn’t apply for accreditation but I’ve been given an online one by OGAE UK, so I’ll be able to watch the dress rehearsals which is nice and I’ll just probably just tweet or post stuff in our Facebook Members Group which is considerably active and has about 3000 members.

Apparently only 13 countries have agreed to do a ‘press appearance’ at the euroclub in the first week. Meanwhile Wiwi have coaxed just as many to appear at their residence at LUSH throughout the week :basil:
 
Listening to this with a FAG. Surprised how normal Pen sounds, I always read his posts in the voice of a rather strung out Quentin Crisp.
 
I am going to Amsterdam for the final, makes me feel quite funny that the first time its in the UK since Katrina I am going elsewhere :D
 
I think I tuned in at the worst possible time. They segued straight into 'Too Late for Love' after 'Amar Pelos Dois'
 
Also no one’s watching the rehearsals! Poor Wiwi William is stuck tweeting from the stockroom in Lush.
