That seems like a pretty heavy decision to put on the artist's shoulders, and feels like it opens them up to a lot of criticism regardless of their decision. It's a bit cowardly on the part of the broadcaster.

Yeah I kind of saw this one coming. There's been a lot of noise in the media over here about this in the last few weeks. We'll see what happens..it does feel cowardly though
 
I'm not sure of the implications of this, or if it's particularly newsworthy.

 
I don’t think it means much, is it for the company that makes the cutaways for the semis or something? Maybe the adverts? There isn’t much non-host broadcaster content in the shows as far as I know.

It doesn’t mean much in practice. It will still be broadcast on the BBC, but it may end up being produced by another company like the Graham Norton Show is.
 
Ooh we get Romania’s confirmation (or withdrawal) tomorrow.

Marie Serneholt has been rumoured after the A*Teens announcement. She's friends with scriptwriter Edward af Sillén and would tie in well with the ABBA thematics. I do find it unlikely as there's been several years since her last high profile presenting gig.

Cyprus, Ukraine, Finland, Luxembourg and diaspora favourites Poland and Lithuania plus a first half draw doesn’t feel particularly kind to Ireland. At least the UK is voting in that semi-final which should help.

It’s crap but I would like to see it qualify.

As the years go by, it seems like there’s less and less to conclude from the semi draws (at least until all the songs are known) - it’s quite rare that something is scuppered or pushed over the line solely thanks to the countries voting in each semi.

Luxembourg being in Portugal’s semi will help kick off another massive guaranteed televote score - almost a quarter of Luxembourg’s population is Portuguese

Yeah that benefits Portugal significantly. Not sure to what extent the Portuguese would return the favour though,if at all.

Luxembourg will surely be given a plum draw, but they'd probably have hoped for France, Belgium and Israel and they didn't get any of them.

I’d be surprised if it has any problem qualifying. It’s a strong song.

Hope they find something for Sanna and/or Sarah Dawn Finer to do as well.
