Fresh from their first win in a decade with Nocturne by Secret Garden, Eurovision comes back to Oslo. Hosted by pop dreamboat Morten Harket.

Prior to the contest, there was a controversial untelevised pre-qualification round which eliminated seven nations, notably Germany:
