Ezra Furman - All of us flames ( new album )

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this .. please move to where it should be if not..

I didn’t know much about Ezra before discovering this but I’m now completely obsessed with it .. full of rage and hope and love and truth, and the music is brilliant too .. I’m never really one for this kind of Guitar Rock but this album transcends everything

I was just about to post a thread on this! Her new album is fantastic. I must admit I struggled with Nine Nudes but this is beautiful.

Anyway I'm a huge fan of her entire discography. I highly recommend Day of the Dog and Transangelic EXODUS.

It's funny because I'm the opposite - I couldn't get into her earlier work at all, finding it too mannered and self-consciously quirky but it feels as if, with Transangelic Exodus, she started writing about her actual life. Twelve Nudes floored me - 11 songs in 27 minutes, absolute punk vibes, scorched earth policy and I loved it. This, I think, is even better. The distortion pedal is put away but there's a deliberate lo-fi thing in several tracks, the urgency is punctuated by moment of real tenderness (both sides close with an absolute heartbreaker) and, yeah, it already feels like her masterpiece so far.

Have to admit, I bought the LP on clear vinyl and I thought, at first, that the pressing was awful; all that wobble and the sibilance on the vocals on Train Comes Through. So I skipped forward to "Point Me Toward The Real" because I knew what that sounded like. It was fine. I consulted the album digitally and now I know it's entirely deliberate but really, it sounds like it's been mastered off a flexi-disc . I wonder if it's side one track one on purpose...
