Fassbinder's Women (2000)

A documentary that I'm about to watch. It's here on youtube (480p) with English subtitles. My first Fassbinder forray was actually Querelle (1982), but it wasn't until getting 3 of the director's boxsets that I realised it was the same guy. Anyway, I'll get to watching. I wouldn't normally settle for 480p, but I am more interested in the quotes.

A Fassbinder fan round here?!!

Cinema was my great passion during my youth, and Fassbinder was my fave director of them all. His mammoth adaptation of Berlin Alexanderplatz remains my fave film work of art ever, I'd have Ali: Fear Eats the Soul and In a Year of 13 Moons right up there with it, and I think there's a strong case for ...Maria Braun and Veronika Voss as masterworks as well. I'm not sure I'd credit any other director with that many truly Great films.

It's lovely to come across someone else that (I presume) appreciates him!

I avoid visual media for the most part nowadays, but this doco looks interesting. He was an absolute nightmare to work with iirc, the premier enfant terrible of his day. But his troupe of actors was outstanding and he drew some of the most brilliant performances in film from many of the women. I'd love to hear what Margit Carstensen and Hanna Schygulla in particular have to say about his methods!
