Favourite ASFM songs for each poster

I keep thinking I’ll go through all these one day but the job only gets more and more intimidating.

But I’ll skip to the chase, my #1 is almost certainly Bip Burger @Tisch and my #2 is either Suki Suki Daisuki @Lucille or The Topic is Ass (was that Lucille too?!)
The next time Diddy has anything bad to say about your song please refer to this post.

My favourite entry BY ME is Joker Bra & VIZE - Baby and I certainly HAVEN'T forgotten what happened that evening. In the absence of knowing who exactly was responsible for giving it the boot, I blame all of you :)

DISGUSTING

They just don't appreciate VIZE around here. We'll just keep submitting them until they do.

QUITE RIGHT TOO

Has anyone submitted this one as yet? I try not to pay too much attention to the never-ending ASFM loop as it frankly gets a bit frightening

And losing that in a semi-final really was Moopy's dark night of the soul. Even the nazi gold tontine and dogfighting thread pale by comparison.

NOT BARBARA? :o

‘Ma plus belle histoire d’amour’ from the first ASFM remains one of life’s greatest musical discoveries.

"J'ai toujours pensé que les amours les plus belles étaient les amours incestueuses" INDEED :disco::horny:

WHEN WILL YOUR FAVES, etc.

From the top of my head my favourite Diddy's entry is the one i suspect it's his in the gif switcheroo edition. My favourite Cob's was Babooska. Buttertart's worldvision featured my fave Bev's, Ag's and Suedey's entries. Also Gabriel from Alex, Comme des garcons from Kratz, and Hijo de la luna from Raspberry Swirl. Got two more spots left to work out.

I’ve been meaning to start a topic asking people to post their top 5 ASFM songs that they’ve sent but I don’t know what I’d call it.

This was difficult with such an embarrassment of riches to choose from. So here's a top ten.

1. Natalia Mogilevskaya - Ya tantsevala
2. Pantha du Prince - Es schneit
3. Firefox AK - Heart of Mine
4. Göksel - Hiç Yok
5. Malfa - So Long
6. Javeira Mena - Espada
7. Aérea Negrot - Todeloo
8. Love Unlimited - It May Be Winter Outside (But In My Heart It's Spring)
9. Chromatics - Famous Monsters
10. Clare Laffut feat. Yseult - Nudes

Göskel was you too? I still listen to it! :disco:

My absolute favourite discovery (not entry - there’s been lots of gems I’d heard before) is the Highasakite track. Still play that now.

My favourite overall not including my own is Leon Else “The City Don’t Care”.

Highasakite are playing London next week!

I’ve had several take aways from ASFM but head and shoulders my favourite new (to me) track was the Eliza Shaddad one.

Favourites of my own entries (I usually don't catch their names :ken:)

Dana International - Fata Morgana
An iconic track, but she's a propaganda mouthpiece these days so I unfriended her on facebook. And speaking of narcissistic terrorists, my ex did have some stories about her being off her face at several early 90s house parties (what a shock). Still, this is a stomp.

Nokko - I Will Catch U
The near mythical Nokko. I don't know much about her beyond Towa Tei fiddling about in the studio with her on this and the track Call Me Nightlife, and also that she lives above Diddy.

Shola Ama - Someday I'll Find You
Her best ever recoding in my opinion, what an exquisite vocal and the Lady from Shanghai video actual art. It was backed with the Divine Comedy's Marvelous Party so unfortunately a plethora of remixes didn't trail behind (unlike its sales when it stalled outside the top 20).

BLÜMCHEN - Boomerang
The German Aqua perhaps. They have several more, but this is the one that keeps coming back to me :basil:

LIGHTS - Second Go
Really surprised this wasn't entered into the 2nd chance ASFM. She seems determined to veer away from items so pop-infused, but this is a pop marvel and the vocal a slight beauty.

Dead or Alive - Blue Christmas (2000)
I have no idea if this is a Burns original, but as cheap as it undoubtedly is it really whisks me away. I thought this was a good way of still entering them when Nukleopatra was nuked out of the speed round when it was ok for me not to vote and then it wasn't.

Catherine - Four Leaf Clover
I was delighted that a few people liked this. D'arcy is an icon and her effortless disdain captures her brittle, standoffish cool perfectly. The ersatz Brian Molko even realized himself and ended up dressing up as her in the video. Honestly, the sight of her with that tray of drinks is one of those music video images that just fill me with joy and escapism.

Toni Halliday - Time Turns Around
Kim Wilde said to have locked herself in the toilet for several hours after hearing it. Big pop Toni still plants the seeds here for what would grow into Curve and Alan Wilder should be given another call if you ask me.

Bis - Eurodisco
Had this been their debut moment on totp, I'm sure it would have sparked off more. They have many great songs, but this is completely ablaze.

I Ya Toyah - Pray
I was delighted to discover this (I loved the Portishead comments someone made), and to my absolute delight remember chatting to someone on a night out about her.

Polina Gagarina - Спектакль окончен
I think this is the only time I've sent what I think is a clear winner. It has some Pet Shop Boys thunder to its drama and I think she has sounded far better live singing this than on record. I pretty much got pelted with stones when posting about her on popjustice, so I guess she has some dodgy politics or something.

Electribe 101 - Inside Out
Now, this is exquisite. I actually wanted to enter Persuasion from the "new" album Electronic Soul (out now in all record stores that are decent), but it wasn't yet on spotify and I'm glad I did so before the BRM mania hit moopy as I'm not one for chasing the trends. Video is iconic. Billie's choreo is just everything, you can see her love of divas like Dusty in her high class kitsch gestures (the one where she puts on an imaginary helmet being my fave), whoever that dancing lady is ought to know she too is an icon, and I'm only gutted no one picked up on my "you're walkers" "gag" from my avatar (plus the fact that Madame Misery looks like she's wearing a packet or bin bag herself).

And onto the non-faves:

Oh I don't have any.

Most listened to takeaway has to be Easy Street though. What a red-eyed master-pop marvel that is.
