Dub Gmail some Carrie PLEASE. I see she's crossed over to pop with her current single in America.

I will do just that over the next day or SO.

mostly reba mcentire i imagine?

i had a short lived country phase, thankfully
it was around shania's any man of mine

you better SHIMMY, SHAKE, make the earth QUAKE

or something just as silly

When I'm in the mood for some OVERBLOWN SENTIMENTALITY and I don't have my CELINE CDs to hand, a bit of Country always does the trick.

Favourite artists: Tim McGraw :horny:, Dixie Chicks, Kenny Chesney, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris.

In fact, Tim McGraw's Dancehall Doctors CD may well be my fave country album EVER. He's TOO GOOD for Faith Hill

Faith Hill can FUCK OFF

I like THIS KISS and THAT IS ALL

Can someone gmail that actually

On ITS way...

"The Way You Love Me" in its Love To Infinity remix guise is of course ULTRA POP TASTIC and "Breathe" ain't BAD. I also have a soft spot for "There You'll Be" but the less said about THAT the better :zombie:

'Cry' is wonderful overblown balladry.

"I don't want pity
I just want what is MIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!"

What is Faith Hill up to?

She crossed over and had a bit of success in the UK for about 10 seconds didn't she. I liked her. She blew up in The Stepford Wives which was amusing.

Even I hated There You'll Be. It was DRECK.

The 'Breathe' album is quite fun country pop though.

"You got me UP and DOWN
and IN-BETWEEN
Actin' nice then bein' REEEEAL MEAN
OOOOOOOH
Well you HOLD ME TIGHT
Then you turn your BACK
Baby, who could deal with that?
You say you wanna work it out BOY
Tell me
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?"

Jolene - Dolly Parton
Still The One - Shania Twain
My Coat Of Many Colours - Dolly Parton
Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton
Standing Outside The Fire - Garth Brooks
Aint Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up - Garth Brooks

Well she went a bit TOO Pop/AC for her Cry album and Country radio abandoned her, so she did a total about face and made a pure country album, which of course lost her her entire international fanbase.

Moron. She still does well in America though.

Does Keith Urban count as country? 'Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing' is rather good.

Johnny Cash would be my favourite country artist really.

She's still big in the US, yes. For the past 2 summers, she's done a joint tour with Tim McGraw - I think it was the highest grossing tour last year. They're doing the same thing this summer & taking all the kids along with them.

There'll You'll Be is SO WRONG but I just can't help LOVING IT. I mean, WHERE'S THE TUNE... but I can't help love it for being so OVERWROUGHT :D

The lack of any mention of Trisha Yearwood in this thread so far INFURIATES me

I thought you'd show up sooner or later, Frozen!

Should I be investigating Trisha then? I take it that's a yes...

Yes Christian, get it on ASAP!

I shall gmail a couple of my faves to get you going

EXCELLENT :D

I've been adding some 2nd rate Babs to my collection recently cause I'm buying them as I find them. Till I Loved You and Higher Ground really aren't all that good... I need to hunt down those 70s albums really.

ooooooooooh country :usa:

Some faves :

Dixie Chicks
Carrie Underwood
Reba McEntire
Kenny Chesney
Faith Hill
Tim McGraw
Clay Walker
Barbara Mandrell
Lorie Morgan
Tanya Tucker

Oh stick to 70s Babs, it all goes pear-shaped after "The Broadway album"! Though I do like "Higher ground" :shy:

I've only given HG one spin so I'll try again. The Broadway Album is certainly better than TILY though...

Back to Country, I'm also a HUGE fan of Nanci Griffith. She kind of crosses the country/folk divide now and I'm never sure quite where to place her... but her early stuff is pretty pure country I reckon.

I ADORE Nanci's "Late night Grande Hotel"

'cos living alone is all I've ever done well' *cries*

I've lost all my Garth Brooks. I think it's cos it was all on tape and I chucked it

Anyway some other faves of mine:

Patty Loveless
Lorrie Morgan
Pam Tillis
Garth Brooks
Tim McGraw
Faith Hill
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Dixie Chicks
Kathy Mattea
Martina McBride
Vince Gill
