Favourite country music?

Off the top of my head...

Dolly Parton - Jolene (the one everyone picks but it really is untouchable)
Trisha Yearwood - You Can Sleep While I Drive or There Goes My Baby
Martina McBride - A Broken Wing or Independence Day
Lorrie Morgan - Half Enough or Good As I Was To You
Reba McEntire - Fancy or Somebody
Chely Wright - It Was or Bumper Of My SUV
Shelby Lynne - Gotta Get Back
Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance
Jamie O'Neal - There Is No Arizona
Terri Gibbs - Rich Man

K@ne, I know you gmail pretty much your whole record collection for me, but can I have Somebody by Reba PRETTY PLEASE?

I love it.

Don't ever hesitate to ask for songs, I don't mind at all.

Onto it now.

OH finally I write in this thread.

I am loving a bit of country music (especially ballads) every now and then an even checked the Country Billboard Charts for a while but I somehow stopped it.

Some favourites:

Martina McBride - Concrete angel
Sara Evans - Why should I care

George Strait - You'll be there
(This is beautiful beyond belief) and still touches me deeply

Buddy Jewel - Sweet Southern Comfort
Carrie Underwood - I ain't in checotah any more
Trisha Yearwood - Sad eyes

Reba McEntire - Cathy's clown
Reba McEntire - She thinks her name is John (about AIDS)
Reba McEntire - Is there life out there
Reba McEntire - The greatest man she ever knew
Reba McEntire - I know how he feels

Disclaimer: This is MoR tastic

Reba McEntire - Cathy's Clown

now THIS is a FINE country song

also Reba's 'Whoever's In New England' :(

Can someone send some prime REBA? I'm quite the fan of the little I've heard.

Ooh, if anyone has 'She Thinks His Name Was John' I would be VERY grateful.

I can only listen to Reba a few tracks at a time, a whole album is way too much. The twang in her voice GRATES after awhile. That said I do love :

"The fear of being alone"
"Why haven't I heard from you"
"And still"
"Please come to Boston"
"You lie"

I'm playing Reba's "What If It's You" album right now :disco:

we don't EVER seem to talk anymore
you don't hold me like you DID before

Oooh I had that on cassette years ago

The first four songs were good, the rest average at best

I MUCH prefer her OLDER stuff but I don't seem to have any handy

I think I'll get her #1s album today.. the tracklisting looks pretty good

Tulsa
Where 69 meets 40
Eufaula Lake
Checotah

Do you know these places Joseph :disco:

Oh MY :disco:
That's fantastic

I think she such a cutie and comes across so humble and lovely :)

Reba's #1s album is really worth getting. Just about ALL of the songs are great. The only thing that's missing is "Fancy" which only reached #8 but is probably her most popular song.

I haven't heard some of these in YEARS :disco:

The Essential Dolly Parton is really good as well

that said it's missing "Silver And Gold" which is one of my FAVE Dolly songs

Which is your favourite voice of the female singers?

I must say these days it's Sara Evans.

There is just something touching in it.

My Trisha review has been delayed in VIEW of me having found MORE TRISH in the GMail

But THANKS all the same Frozen :D

I LOVE a bit of country. I've especially being over satured with Martina McBride recently, her appearance on American Idol and her new album have sent me into Martina overload.

In no particular order here is my Country Top Ten:
Sara Evans - Cheatin'
Dixie Chicks - There's Your Trouble
Martina McBride - A Broken Wing
Dixie Chicks - Goodbye Earl
Dixie Chicks - Favourite Year
Carrie Underwood - I Ain't In Checotah Anymore
Martina McBride - For These Times
LeAnn Rimes - I Need You
Faith Hill - Fireflies
Carrie Underwood - Jesus, Take The Wheel

I've been rediscovering Pam Tillis' "All of this love" album tonight. It's a joy from start to finish. Will G some of the tracks as soon as the fracas there has been sorted for those interested...

She has a new album out doesn't she? It's had some very good reviews indeed...

Pam started her own label, Stellar Cat Records, in 2007. Her first album on that label, Rhinestoned, was released in April of 2007

I think my FAVE Lorrie song would have to be "A Picture Of Me (Without You)"

"Hearts in armor" is beautiful but in a downbeat way. "Walkaway Joe" is like the flipside to "She's in love with the boy"

Yeah it's ok, not sure it was worth the 5 year wait though. I think I'll do a Trisha album ranking!

1. Hearts in armor
2. Thinking about you
3. The Song remembers when
4. Inside out
5. Where your road leads
6. Jasper County
7. Everybody knows
8. Trisha Yearwood
9. Real live woman
