Festival Di Soldi - Semi-Final 2 - Playlists & Recap CLOSES Thursday 11th June 12PM

I'm having a full listen again later. I kind of wish I'd gone for something more stand-out. This was my first choice, but chose against it because male vocals.

It's not just the male vocals, whatever you sent you chose the right one :D

My votes for one of the semis should be ready soon, bless you for those wonderful recaps. :)

Fucking hell semi 1 was much better.

Haiti - Dawn Richard - Renegades: Thought it had potential but then it didn’t go anywhere. Way too repetitive

Slovakia - LOVA - You Me And The Silence: Much better, I liked it could happily listen again

The Moon - Yonezu Kenshi - Lemon, nice backgroundy unexciting MOR

Rebel Zapatista Autonomous Municipalities - DAF - Der Mussolini. Another repetitive one that goes nowhere.

Syria - Bedouine - Nice And Quiet: Had a nice snooze there, pleasant enough

Ethiopia - K/DA - POP/STARS: quite a good chorus, good in comparison to some of this dreck

Lyon - Voilaaa - Spies Are Watching Me: Life is too short

Comoros - Imany - Don’t Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix) - finally another good one !

Japan - Otoboke Beaver - Don’t Light My Fire - annoying, unpleasant. Somebody is trolling us clearly

Guyana - Maxee - When I Look Into Your Eyes. Generic Darkchild stuff, which is a RELIEF after all this shit. Like not love

@COB @RaspberrySwirl @Rhythmbarbican @Dark Carnival @Cécile @dmlaw @Beverley @Jacques @octophone @big ron @Rita @Tisch @Ill Advised @Suomi @Mugatu @Alex @Chlammy @jyxz @Alla @Raining On Me

Just to remind you all I’m still waiting for your votes. Some of you may have already voted in one semi-final but you need to vote in the one your competing in to avoid losing 58 points. It’s so close in both semi’s, losing that amount could drop you from first to outside of the Top 12!

I need all Semi-Final 1 votes by Wednesday 10th at 12pm
I need all Semi-Final 2 votes by Thursday 11th at 12pm

Results + twist at 9pm on Thursday evening!

:) xx

Could you not manage the second half of the semi?

As it currently stands, I am refusing to vote as an act of protest against the unethical treatment of some of these songs and their attempts to bring musical diversity into the competition. Countries like Belgium, Sealand, Japan, R.Z.A Municipalities and São Tomé & Principe are currently facing eradication in the face of faceless dance bangers, and my sacrifice of 58 points is an act of statement against this. I will lay down to allow others to walk.

I’m about to vote, I listened to almost all of semi 1 in the gym and I ”liked” enough songs to vote.

"These songs won't get enough points, so I will protest by...not giving them points either"

I find the recaps don't do a few songs justice. Not knocking them, they're a good idea for quick reminders, but there are some songs especially in this semi where a recap barely scratches the surface. I hope people vote for the FULL EXPERIENCE, even if they end up dead.

I am compiling a list. I only have 2 on it so far, but I am only around 10 songs in. The one song I do have IS an unexpected belter!! :disco:

Have to agree with this, I'm not sure I'm a big fan of the recaps as much as I appreciate Mr S's efforts in producing them. It definitely helped me listening to the whole songs again but I realise some people have busy lockdown lives...

Oh anyone that votes based just on the recap deserves to be SHOT.

São Tomé & Principe - Aérea Negrot - Todeloo - WTF IS THIS SHIT

Belgium - Charlotte Adigéry - High Lights - Oh is rather fun :D

Nauru - Bip Ling - Bip Burger. OK I shouldn’t like this, it is objectively awful. However it is oddly compelling and catchy and i WANT the bip burger :D

Western Sahara - Holiday Sidewinder & PBO - Born On The Wind. It’s no bip burger but still is listenable

Mozambique - Four of Diamonds - Walk Away - It’s not unpleasant, just THERE

The Principality of Sealand - Les Rita Mitsouko - Le Petit Train - we have another WHAT THE FUCK moment here people

Slovenia - MDNGHT - Into The Night - okay am liking this one, nice to have a male vocal, good beat to it and builds as song goes on, think it might be a grower

Vanuatu - LeBrock - Please Don’t Cry - 80’s nonsense, rather enjoying it :D

Romania - DJ Sava x Serena - Red Cadillac - I did like the basic bangers that Inna used to churn out, this is in a similar vein so I approve

LOL at some of you getting in a FALP because a song dares to be 7 minutes long.

I really don’t understand it at all. Surely it’s better to have more of something if it’s good? (Obviously less or none at all is preferred if it’s gash.) Here’s a 10:52 treat for all you attention deficits and in this case it’s ALL about the length :disco::horny:

And for what its worth I could listen to that for an HOUR and still be happy

My favourite EXTREME tracks are William Basinski's disintegration loops. It's the same loop repeated over 30 - 60 minutes until it decays into nothing. Quite lovely to go to sleep to.

Did you go to his gig last year (at least I think it was last year) at that church in Bethnal Green? I thought the sound could have been a bit better but then I have been to Corsica Studios and am nothing if not fussy when it comes to that sort of arrangement

It was him and someone else with some laptops and a few light bulbs plus someone standing up to make a show of themselves with a “No William, thank YOU, thank YOU’ at the end - so embarrassed for her - so you didn’t miss THAT much

God, GIGS. Will we ever see their like again? :(

I’d be up for a whole evening of panpipes from the Andes at the Lamb and Hen at this rate *hums along, sobbing*

I saw Basinski in 2004 @Zu-Klara - he did have several wee reel-to-reel tape machines and he stood there, dapper as you like, threading these loops onto them and letting them run. It was quite fun.

All day event. It was basically Current 93 and chums (Six Organs Of Admittance, Baby Dee and Charlemagne Palestine all played too) so you can imagine the types who were there.
