Just so I better understand, what are other examples (say 10-20) of YWVFT energy?
 
I like to think Svetlana still owns them, and they do all the chores around her palatial house.

She still owns the Hell Machine and keeps it in her garage. I distinctly remember an interview a few years ago where she relayed that "the dogs play on it" :D
 
Definitely not in comparison to stuff like SloMo or Dizzy, I wonder if they’ve had backlash after last year as a lot of people said it wasn’t an especially family friendly show. Also a very EBU thing to focus on that rather than anything else that is a problem :D
 
But Windows95Man can literally get his hairy arse out and pretend to run around the stage with no trousers on, ok.

What will they change the big microphone stand to to make it less phallic I wonder? Is Achilles's bucking bronco still in storage?

I think fair enough really. I imagine if they had complaints about last year Windows95man was one of the targets of it, but to my mind the bigger offender was Dizzy. The performance was so overtly porny!
 
Is there any evidence that the Dizzy performance elicited a significant number of complaints?

It wasn’t that porny, was it? Just a bit of grinding, which is hardly a new thing for Eurovision.

The Finnish HoD has given an interview that implies Erika might be slightly exaggerating and says that discussions have been had but the EBU hasn't made any specific demands to change the performance.

I imagine it was likely Windows95man and the Zorra performance got more of the complaints, but the thing was literally set in GROTTY SHOWERS :D Granted, it was probably much more of an 'if you know, you know' cut.

Short version: The President was asked about Eurovision and said he’d be supporting KAJ, which many interpreted as a deliberate snub on Erika.

Long version

During the spring, Finland has been divided in two between KAJ and Erika Vikman .

Vikman was chosen to represent Finland at Eurovision in February after winning the New Music Competition with her song Ich komme . International Eurovision fans were excited about Vikman's UMK victory, and even betting statistics predicted Vikman's success.

Some Finns were not as excited about Vikman's entry to Eurovision, and harshly criticized the artist's sexually suggestive song, latex outfit, and performance. This has continued to this day.

In March, the Finnish-Swedish band KAJ was chosen to represent Sweden at Eurovision with the song Bara bada bastu . The band, from Vöyri, has achieved phenomenal popularity with their song about sauna bathing in both Sweden and Finland.

In Finland, the KAJ phenomenon has become so big that, for example, in April, even the vicar became enthusiastic about wearing a sauna jacket during a devotional . This week, the President of the Republic, Alexander Stubb, revealed during his visit to Vöyri that he would rather support KAJ in Eurovision than his own country's representative, Vikman.

It's great that the Finnish-Swedish band is also encouraged here in Finland, because it brings a sense of community. Their popularity is understandable, because the band members are charismatic and likeable. They also have a great performance and song.

However, amidst the KAJ hype, a thought comes to mind: have we Finns forgotten to also encourage our own visa representative?

Although KAJ is a Finnish band, it ultimately represents Sweden. Are we hoping that Sweden will win Eurovision just because a Finnish comedy band shares fewer opinions than the courageous Erika Vikman?

Yes, our Eurovision representative last year, Windows95man, also divided the opinions of Finns with his semi-nude appearance and 90s-style song No Rules , but he was still encouraged to win.

I don't think it's in the spirit of the visage to reject our own representative, even if we disagree with his song or performance style. Especially in a time when acceptance is also demanded for all kinds of people.

Many Finns may have turned their backs on Vikman. However, I believe that the opinion of many Finns will change if Vikman does better than KAJ at Eurovision.

Whatever people's opinion of KAJ and Vikman, I hope they would be encouraged at Eurovision without putting the other down. That's the true spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Erika’s response

– It's great that the president encourages his own people, Vikman grins.

– That's not surprising to me. But it would be nice to see that one day great men would also stand by the side of women like me, Vikman continues with a gentle smile.

Vikman also says that he knows what kind of musical taste Stubb has, so the comment didn't surprise him for that reason.

– He has said that he likes the music of Olli Halonen , for example , and KAJ represents the same music genre.

I hope songwriter Chisu speaks on the matter soon. She's delivered to Erika one of the best songs of all time that surely will never be matched.
 
Reeks of double standards/misogyny that Erika is getting criticised for her song being sexually suggestive, if those people are then lending their support to KAJ...

Or is the Little Susan memorial sauna not the one they're visiting?

I think this has been blown out of proportion. I haven’t seen any bad treatment in the media — not to say there hasn’t been any but definitely not much. And the President complimenting a Finnish band also in the contest is ”treating Erika terribly”? He also reached out to Erika to give his support this week. Finland is most certainly not ”divided in half”, most people don’t care or can appreciate both songs.
