First Class

If I could afford to fly first class, or even premium economy to South America I would. I'm dreading my flight.

I've never not flown economy, but absolutely would consider it for longer flights. The problem is that it's often so prohibitively expensive. I'd need to be rich to the point of genuinely not giving a shit about money to fly first.

I'm quite the fan of first class for train travel though, if I can get a cheap upgrade on seat frog. Even better if it's into or out of London and you take an extra bag to fill up with drinks and snacks from the first class lounge. And then naturally also rinsing the trolley every time it comes around.

I’ve recently discovered seat frog for cheap first class on trains and now I’ll never go back!!

I've managed to keep the the upper limit I'm willing to pay, but it is really tempting to think just a few quid more. Like eBay, I guess.

And yes, standard feels EVER SO GRUBBY after you've gone first class. GWR first class particularly is lovely. Cross Country has better snacks, but the carriages aren't anywhere near so lovely.

If I could afford it, I would always fly first class

Flying long haul is a special type of hell and I would absolutely avoid doing that ever again in economy if I ever could.

We're flying on NYE long haul, do they offer cheaper upgrades to first class if the flight isn't full, like they do on a cruise, you can bid to get a better room 🤔

14 hours in economy isn't filling me with joy.

But it would have cost us an extra £1000 each to go first class.

This is where I struggle. I'd rather spend an extra £2000 on a fuck off amazing hotel, or experience while I was on holiday.

I'm not convinced it would make that much difference in terms of sleep anyway. It's more just having a bit more room and comfort when I'm awake. And as much as I value that, not to the extent of what it would cost me.

Not really.

Who are you flying with? We upgraded to the most pleasant peasant seats with virgin and got the seats at the front with extra leg room going to SA and it was fine.

I reckon I could get a nap in if I could lay down/put my feet up

I’ve only ever flown business class, which was amazing enough, but first class is a whole other level.

I fly first class when going long haul. I am quite a nervous flyer so being crammed in like a sardine for a long time is just not for me. It is comfortable and I see it as the beginning of my holiday, but yes it’s not particularly cheap.
