France - The Emmanuel Macron Second Term (The Prime Ministers Resigning Years)

from the guardian

A word of caution: we still need to wait for sentencing, including a decision on the key issue of whether the verdict will include a declaration that she is ineligible to run for public office, and whether it will be “with immediate effect” or not.

Edouard Phillippe (Macron's first round PM from the old UMP/Les Republicains party of the right) was polling in a dead heat with Le Pen, so if the ban goes through, he's probably the favourite for 2027 at this point.

he has 2 years to fix that. this is kind of the ideal time for this to happen
He's *29*!! I think there's always going to be a bit of a worry among the French public about giving a naïf the nuclear codes.

Was Le Pen the favourite to win in 2027, even after the RN underperformed at the last election?

She tended to win/tie runoff polling against likely opponents, so probably, but it certainly wasn't a guaranteed thing. Definitely too close for comfort and closer than 2022, either way.

What an UNDERSTATED REACTION

But then we know chaos is exactly what that cunt M*cr*n is after, to justify another snap election where he can finally name Le Pen’s boy Prime Minister :manson:

In case you missed it, it's now out in the open that he was hoping Le Pen's party would win last year's election:

@Dark Carnival and anyone else who knows, how likely is an early presidential election to happen? Is it entirely Macron's decision or is there a mechanism for it to be forced in some way by others?

There is an impeachment mechanism but I don’t have a detailed knowledge of it since it is highly unlikely to happen. Right now, only Mélenchon’s party has raised this possibility, no other party wants to go there.

An early election is very unlikely to happen due to a resignation. Her Highness genuinely believes she’s doing a great job and we’re just all just too stupid to understand her beautiful complex mind (his words, not mine) :eyes:
