FREE PALESTINE

We're seeing it play out in real time. We are in the "shut the fuck up plebs, keep scrolling and worry about trans people while we massacre an entire nation, do you know how RICH we're going to be after we build a holiday resort over the rubble?" era.

None of these people every gave the slightest fuck about free speech. All they ever wanted was for them to face no consequences for their words and, indeed, their actions. You still have to shut your mouth, you can't say Free Palestine.

And by the way, Free Palestine.

If all they'd said was 'Free Palestine' there literally wouldn't have been an issue. But everyone fucking *loves* playing motte and bailey tactics when it comes to this.

But anyway. This is the most boring, exhausting debate going, because literally every side is just packed with the most disingenuous pricks determined to squash all nuance or actual attention to meaning out of things. It's possible to be in favour of Palestinian rights and against what is happening in Gaza without calling for death to Israel, its Defence Forces, supporting Hezbollah, or acting like a group storming UK military sites is ever going to be looked upon kindly by the government or treated like it's just doing innocuous protest.

Their language was crass and inappropriate and unnecessary. They've made the story about themselves by the language they chose. They're not wrong in their statement about the world looking for distractions, they are right to raise that. But they chose the wrong language at Glastonbury because they've undermined the true cause. They tried to make noise about it but they played into the hands of the people trying to suppress the cause. They played their hand and lost.

Anyway, just back from Glastonbury and was very much in the crowd for Bob Vylan and Kneecap. The energy was incredible and the support for Palestine at those sets and across the festival was huge. Thats the most politically charged festival I’ve been to, and I’ve been to lots of Glastonburys.

Good on Bob Vylan for making the stand and highlighting the hypocrisy - condemning a band for chanting death to the IDF while the IDF admits to shooting people for fun while they beg for food? Have a fucking word.

This analogy sums it up for me. The time for moderate fence sitting is over. Death to the IDF.

That's like saying ACAB is insulting everyone who lives in a nation with a police force. It's not a covertable proposition. It's like saying that all cod are fish therefore all fish are cod.
Fucking right

🙃

Never a bad time to mention that Ben Walker, the UKIP man behind that ‘deport Bob Vylan’ racism, has five criminal convictions for ignoring building regulations and was sacked as a magistrate for lying about them.

Isn't saying "Anti-White racists do not belong in Britain" openly admitting that "other racists are fine"? :D

Fucking dickheads.

This is properly chilling. It's not only complete bullshit, you only need to look at the imbalance in both stories and the language within them on BBC News about the conflict, it's also an attack on the independence of the BBC itself.

oh for god's sake.

the BBC doesn't have independence anymore, it's already at the whims of whatever the government of the day wants it to be. Lisa Nandy can go fuck herself.

how genuinely offensive that people who would position themselves as pro-Jewish voices continue to use "antisemitism" so recklessly/conflate it with having a moral stance on Gaza.

We are sliding dangerously fast into a chilling dystopia.
