Friday is trapped on a plane with a screaming child

I’m at the office today because they need to reinstall Windows completely on my work laptop 😭😭😭

Took Mr F for an appointment at the pain management clinic this morning. I don't usually talk at these things, unless it's to remind Mr F of something he's forgotten to tell them. After ten minutes of listening to the consultant carp on about how he's been on too much medication for too long and being quite accusatory to him about it I interrupted her mid-sentence and pointed out that he didn't put himself on these tablets, for almost twenty-five years GPs and medical professionals have kept adding to the list and upping dosages because they know he can't be repaired so he's been fobbed off all the way through with "here are some more pills, now sod off home". Her whole attitude changed so I'm glad I did. I told her how he can do something on one day and put up with the pain but that means he's incapacitated for several days afterwards. Then she said he's listed as having an allergy to Fluoxetine so I told her that he isn't allergic to it, a locum GP decided to prescribe it without checking interactions with his other medication and he developed seratonin toxicity. Luckily I knew the symptoms to watch for so I rang a pharmacist who confirmed not to let him take any more.

At the end of the consultation she said he can have one-to-one sessions with a pain psychologist and she's going to work on different combinations of his medication, lowering the dosages of the most dangerous (amitriptylline first) in teeny increments and he'll have a dedicated pain nurse to ring if something doesn't feel right. This is a massive bonus because for the last ten years every time he's managed to get a pain management referral they wait until a fortnight before the appointment and he gets a letter saying that they've reviewed his notes and there's nothing further they can do so they cancel the referral.
