It sounds like there’s a lot going on in her head at the moment, to be honest; it might be worth asking her if she’s spoken to her GP.
You’ve obviously done everything in your power to help her but even then it sounds like coming in to the office is just going to stress her out even more.
She is someone who plods on and then has a melt down and then sorts herself out and is ok the next day. Which is why I'm trying to support her by getting her through today and into the weekend when she has a break. But I feel like I'm out of my depth now. Every single member of my team is struggling and on the verge of a breakdown because our work is just beyond hideous at the moment. I feel like I'm just juggling 14 people's mental health with absolutely no idea how to make things right, and I'm struggling just as much.

Maybe I'll get signed off sick :weed:

I love editing aobscure and unmoderated wikipedia pages. One of my lies has now become reported as fact. :D

Then you should go to the people you report to and ask for help/support.

I have. I had a one to one. But there is pretty much nothing that can be done while things see so bad at work. Apart from me getting signed off sick which I refuse to do because it'll put everyone else in the shit.

Rachey I’m gonna need 55k and I don’t do mornings. Xxx
Amazing. We need more people willing to do the late shifts.

You can have minimum wage

See this is the problem, you're being failed by your management, so then you're just pushing your shit down to the people below you. It's a failure from the top, and you should be taking it to them, not making some poor cunt come into work for fear of the sack. The people above you, and ultimately the people who own the company, should be taking responsibility for this.

Rachey: 'No comment'

Anyway good news the squalid little pied-à-terre in Lower Clapton I have my eye on is still available and I should be viewing it this weekend.

Right let's just clear something up. At NO point have any of my team been made to feel they will lose their job. My comment earlier about people losing their jobs is not something I would ever say to them. I said it on here because I wanted to vent to people who are out of the work circle.

As far as my team are concerned, I've never told them they should be grateful to have a job and I'm pretty sure none of them realise jobs are at risk.

Excuse me, where do I post about books please?

I know there’s a thread somewhere, but I can’t remember where it is.

when you're looking for a career you pick the conditions that come with it...It comes with the territory and if it's not for you, it's down to you to change vocation.
I mean, I think that is a little unfair, given she didn't know when she took the job that this pandemic would happen.

I've worked in GP surgeries where they have arranged for receptionists to work from home. I appreciate it's not the exact same job, but when management say 'it can't be done', I'm more inclined to think that there is an unwillingness to make it work or a lack of creative vision to make it so, rather than any real impossibility.

@Rachey I think this is way beyond your pay grade, the decision on what to do needs to come from above you. Ask for help.

Thats what I'm getting at Raquel, problems should go to the top of the company, not the bottom. Rarely works that way, unfortunately.

My point is; if she decided to leave because she no longer felt comfortable, and job hunt for something she could do at home, that would be extremely valid but also a decision to take on the chin. Rachey can't wave a magic wand to make all the pandemic go away.

I also agree fully with your point that at this point the employers should look at other avenues to help with her anxiety, like counselling. It's good she's making her anxieties known instead of sucking it up and suffering. Ultimately though, the fact that her job requires her physical presence isn't going to go away.

If her job genuinely requires her physical presence...

Might actually have a chance to pick up some shifts

If she is otherwise happy with her job though, then it doesn't sit comfortably with me to be told to find something else for what is a temporary problem. I don't have a great solution to this though, I'm just chin-flapping in support of the workers.

A lot of my colleagues are still doing a lot of their work from home. I've resisted though. Going out to work every day has kept me sane for the most part.

I've talked a wee bit about this before - there are jobs that people with disabilities have been told had to be done in offices which are now being done at home. Now, this does involve improvements in affordable technology and also occasions of things being into use before they've been completely debugged, such as the Government's "track" and "trace" .

I think if the mechanics have been properly explored - and I mean properly - then it's unpaid leave and temping staff to cover.

A friend has asked me over to hers this weekend to drink outside but it’s fucking FREEZING so I have kindly declined. I am going to get the fire on, and get pissed whilst hanging out with my Moopy chums.

Oh so my flatmate’s mum has apparently had an accident and he’s moved in with her and is moving out next week? I heard this through my friend who’s the landlord, it all sounds like a big LIE tbh. Anyway it means I have the place to myself again which is great but now definitely need to find somewhere before the end of November!

Is it possible that he grew tired of you walking around the flat wearing nothing but a pair of chaps?
