Friday, the musical! (1 Viewer)

I had a rabbit called Eastern which was our sole rabbit (which I now know is a no-no) and he was a sweetie. We moved house, moved him temporarily to my nan and grandad's where he caught miximitosis and lost the ability to keep his head up. TRAUMATIC for seven year old me.

We then got gerbils and one month later my dad crushed one of them under a pile of chairs he leant over while trying to catch it. ALSO TRAUMATIC.

So I'm not allowing my kids to have any pets unless they're robust.

Mr F had two ferrets as a teenager. The albino jill was lovely but the brown hob was a bit vicious. They used to get all excited and flip over and run sideways and jump around chasing each other, it was so cute but I didn't like that they were fed exclusively on raw meat. Him and his mates used to take them down the fields to get rabbits. Somebody broke into his mum's greenhouse one night and killed them both by bashing them against the wall.
Genuine sad :(

Who would do that :o

I had loads of pets as a kid, one of them was a duck. One day, my parents told me it ATE STONES and had to be put down only to find out they had friends over for dinner and we were serving DUCK :eyes: I had some.

That's just horrific! Surely not your pet duck? Have you ever questioned them further about this? I think you should.

Mr F's mum told him that Goldie their labrador went to live on a farm when he was about seven. Earlier this year somebody in a film said "it went to live on a farm" about a dog that had died. I had no idea that he didn't know, after all these years, what "gone to live on a farm" meant. He tried to argue that it really had gone to live on a farm but I was laughing too hard to put up any argument.

What’s the deal with hamsters biting you when you could easily kill them? Seems a bit BRAVE.

I always think it's like those little terrier dogs that have a go at Ridley, yapping at the end of their extendable leads. They have small dog syndrome (like small man syndrome). Ridley wouldn't even choke on them, they're so little, he just looks at them then continues about his business but all little dogs bark at him.

Little dogs are the worst! They have such attitude problems with big dogs.

IT WAS MY DUCK. They didn’t actually pretend it was a different duck :D the justification was that it shouldn’t go to waste, which I kinda agreed with :D :( I never questioned them about it but I think I will at some point.

ATE STONES? :D

What a truly terrible and traumatic story. Don’t forget, it’s never too late to CALL THE POLICE

Don't chickens eat GRIT to help them make their eggshells? Surely ducks are the same :o

I feel a retrospective call to Esther Rantzen on DC's behalf coming on

I’ve been thinking about Esther quite a lot today as there’s a rich whiff of ‘That’s Life!’ about the sexy tree pics which have had everyone flicking themselves off

My friend killed her hamster by slicing it under a sliding door when we were about 14. She threw it over the garden fence and told her parents that her toddler sister let it out the house.

Even now it's like a terrible unspoken secret whenever we meet up :(

I'm sorry to tell you that if it had been euthanised by a vet it would have been inedible. Your parents killed your duck on purpose DC! Remember this when it's nursing home time ...

I don’t actually know but I would doubt that they eat whole STONES. Not that that particular story dished up by DC’s murdering parents seems likely to be true as such...

I think they just meant they smashed its head between two stones.

I once jokingly asked my dad whether he wanted me to kill my mum's annoying budgie when they went on holiday and I was looking after it. Three days before they came home I walked in and Louie was dead on the back of the couch.

The hamsters never bit me, they did sometimes give a little "fuck off" warning nibble if I was bothering them though. Not a chomp, just an "I've got teeth and this is my only way to tell you that tickling my belly is not okay"

Poppy did bite my dad once when he was teasing her with a piece of chicken. It was an "I'm going to get it THIS time even if I take your finger with it" bite.
