Friday trades fame for love without a second thought

Went out for a few drinks last night, stupidly accepted a snort of some MYSTERY prescription drug a friend offered, it was quite WONDERFUL and somehow got up without a single issue, went to the gym and am sat at my desk already for a coffee and feeling perky for the day :disco:
 
It's also Victorious festival weekend here, which means you can't do ANYTHING at all and the world is full of middle aged cunts with face glitter on drinking at 8am* and thinking that all means they're off to a proper festival, even though it ends at 11pm, there's no camping and it's VERY middle class.

*- Kudos to the group I saw drinking on the way to the gym at 6:15 this morning. ANOTHER WORLD.

I'm actually furious about it. It's mostly white, middle aged indie/ rock bands AGAIN. Where's the diversity? And of the few that are there, there's hardly any women/ people of colour represented on the main stage...

I get grumpy about it anyway as living so close, you can't move your car, the council does fuck all about trying to stop people parking or let you park anywhere, despite paying for a residents' parking pass, I don't sleep for three days as there's inevitably someone shouting/ singing/ vomiting literally outside my building.

It's good for the city, but it's totally in the wrong place.

You know I've been in or near Portsmouth a lot this summer mostly for running/racing stuff... back in October for the Great South Run. Can't wait! Love running in Pompey
 
Having said all of this, a friend messaged me this morning saying she thinks she'll get free wristbands for Saturday night if we want to stroll over, so I might stick my head in at some point.

Fun fact: I have NEVER paid for Victorious and went every year until the last couple. Being a SOUTHSEA FACE has its advantages :disco:

I'll be on the balcony in a wig, love, LOOK UP!

I have vague thoughts of trying to get to 10 miles and bagging a last minute charity space, but I won't be able to start training until late September when I'm back from Japan, so it's doomed to failure really.

I used to live round the corner from the entrance to Notting Hill Carnival, and I would routinely escape for that entire weekend. I can’t think of anything worse than randoms knocking to use your loo! Or being coerced into a roadside twerking party when you’re on the way back from Sainsbury’s with an armful of broccoli…

I kind of agree with that but in my defence about my situation, my festival wasn't here when I moved in.
 
Oh of course that’s fair! But anyone moving to Notting Hill KNOWS it’s part of the deal, if you don’t like it go to Maida Vale!
 
Of course the most wicked of them all are the SOHO residents who make NOISE CONPLAINTS.

Hate is a STRONG WORD!

I’m allowed to love Notting Hill and hate the carnival. A weekend escape once a year is a fair trade.

I agree about Soho noise nazis though. That’s just ridiculous.
