Friday's back! New venue, new caravan, new kidney!

Yeah my flatmate works for a large company in the city and even before this they were encouraging hot desking and working from home 2/3 days so they could cut office space.
This is what I kept loudly opining in my office. Well my FRIENDS in LONDON are ENCOURAGED to work from home whenever managers threw around the "people'll take the piss" card, becasue it's true! You get a lot more out of your workers when you're flexible with start times/working from home etc. They were so stupid rigid about working 9-5 that if people rocked up at 9:15 they were still expected to leave at 5 because "flex time isn't a thing". I really hope that's all relaxed after this.

I think really they just didn't want to spend the money on getting rid of the archaic desktops, so I feel no sympathy for going off with symptoms when I did and phyically not being able to work for two weeks.

I’m properly pushing for finish early Friday after all this.

I had that in my old job. They were also very rigid (I've heard my old team leader is making his team text him when they start in the morning, when they're taking lunch, and when they finish for the day) but we had an hour window of start/finish times and finished 4:30 on a Friday which was LUSH.

Oh we have to email every morning, supposedly to check we are ok and haven’t caught the covid. NOTHING to do with checking we’re logging in on time at all.

When this is over I never want to work from home again, I’m just not suited to it. I miss my class, miss solving disputes and dramas using Judge Judy quotes (“did you take his pencil?” “No” “BALONEY SIR!”) and I miss playing random Eurovision songs between lessons (“why do we have to listen to this?” “Because Eurovision 1999 helps us to understand humanity, now stop crying”)

I’ve done lots of videos for online lessons but it’s just NOT THE SAME
You should get them to read the Eurovision forum during literacy sessions, it will inspire them to make better choices in life so they never end up at such a low ebb they start posting in there.

I believe that Michelle Pfeiffer is in negotiations to play you in the movie of your life.

Don’t Close Your Eyes, staring Michelle Pfeiffer as Sue Omi and Delroy Lindo as VoR.
How one teacher’s Eurovision obsession inspired the spiritual awakening of Class 4b, the cult they formed as a result, and their eventual mass suicide at the Church of Perelli compound just outside Kettering.

I've done about an hour of work and a 2 minute Tony Britt workout today and I'm exhausted. I could go a lovely nap this afternoon.

I think the pervasive sense of being perpetually knackered (and often borderline hysterical) are my takeaways from lockdown.

And just think, we're probably not even be half way through it yet :)

Woke up at 4 this morning and knocked back a bottle of wine to try and get back to sleep, it didn’t work so I’m still awake and drunk at 8 in the morning!

TGIF!

At what point is it ok to stage an intervention? :D

I haven't exercised in a week and it's beginning to make me feel DOWN but I'm just struggling- I'm fucking exhausted (as in PROPERLY, not just TIRED) and I think it's just the stress of the past week rather than the actual health issues themselves. I keep waking up to go and do something and then not bothering. I will try and do some weights today I think just to try and make myself feel better.

Oh and on a work call with my entire company, I said "How's it being pregnant with all this?" to a member of my staff, forgetting that she hadn't told anyone and is still 10 weeks gone.

Seems like FOREVER ago she told me and I just didn't think. I am mortified. She is taking it ok, but god I'm so annoyed at myself.

I've just been doing some posing the mirror, my chest and shoulders are looking great but the constant flow of wine is doing some serious middle aged spread based damage. I look like two torsos stitched together!

I was doing SO WELL and I'm annoyed I can feel it disappearing- mentally rather than physically, so far. This DAMNED disease.

Just done a couple of hours of housework, and it's finished me off. Someone wake me up for The Girlie Show, or else I think I may sleep right through to tomorrow morning.

Apparently I’ve submitted my assignment to the wrong place, who creates two submission links for the same assignment?

If I can't cook a meal in one pan, it can fuck off

I had a pizza delivered the other day but was so anxious about where it had been and whether people had been coughing all over it that I didn’t really enjoy it although I did of course eat it :)

Incidentally @Lucille, I don’t know if you’re a pizza girl but don’t FOR GOD’S SAKE order from the Dalston Pizza Club. They were always my tastiest go-to and the delivery man was cute but they got a disgraceful ONE STAR in their recent health and safety inspection, which mainly goes to show that I must actively prefer filth :disco:

I went to the chippy at the weekend and felt paranoid for a few days after

We got a take away the over day which I handled and dished up with gloves washed my hands threw all the boxes out just to double make sure...

Then sat and shoveled the food into my actual body and wondered what the point of all the precaution was seeing as any germs were now fully INSIDE ME

I was just about to ask about everyone else’s take on getting food delivered (cooked, not meaty puds and tinned mushrooms from Tesco) in these dark days of disease. In terms of going out to get it, the chippy on Hackney Road is still open but I’m just not in the mood for being RIDDLED quite frankly
