Yes, she has Parkinson's and can't sing anymore. There was a documentary made about a year ago "The Sound Of My Voice" that covers her career and has present day interviews with her. Well worth seeking out.

Nanci always skewed more folk than country to me but this attempt at a proper mainstream country song is one of my faves of the genre

Yes it was her! Julie Gold the songwriter, submitted it to a few artists before requesting Nanci who loved the song decided she was gonna take it on. Then Bette Midler discovered it, and it became that hit.

Emmylou's tribute to mentor Gram Parsons who died is a proper heartbreaker of a song

Yeah, love the Bette Midler version, and remember Julie Gold looking a state picking up a Grammy. I knew it was a cover but had no idea who did the original one.

I know Emmylou for her album with Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton, but I know she's been singing forever.

I wanted to include "He Thinks He'll Keep Her" but couldn't find a good quality version. I wanted to use the "Women Of Country" clip with Trisha, Pam, Emmylou, Patty, Suzy and Kathy on backing vocals but the video was terrible.
