funky does Kylie: "DISCO" (2020)

Spinning Around has had some great tour remixes that take it to the 10, but this comparatively straight album edit was probably the right move if just a tad safe production-wise. It's a subdued 7. Now, if only Kylie was a remix queen as those verses are gorge.

On A Night Like This. She was at full speed here. As a Dannii, Cher and Gina G fan, it is no surprise that I love Metro's Minogue mode too. Kylie airkiss disco supreme. Up there with Rhythm of Love if just not as lavish. 10.

So Now Goodbye. She was peddling a persona on this album and this one is polite fluff. I do agree with the score. 6.

Password, I don't remember anymore, but Kylie must be a Deee-Lite fan. I've yet to be convinced that she's ever emulated them successfully though.

And in the words of the Spice Girls: next page, next page, next page.

Disco Down and Your Disco are a lava flow of Kylie. Outer body experiences. 10s.

Please Stay. Nimble and cute. 9.

Butterfly. Destination: Fever. 10.

I'm So High. And I'm so bored. 5.

Under the Influence of Love. Best of the self-consciously coquetish fluff. 7.

Light Years. Disco coma. 10.

No thoughts on the rest.

The side-splitting peaks are distinctive pleasures. The borderline banality of the rest don't quite catch fire.

was it Stargate that produced all these similar sounding songs? They all seemed to have a go - "Be With You" (Enrique), "Waiting For Tonight" (JLo), "Not Over You Yet" (Diana Ross), "When The Heartache Is Over" (Tina)... it's the same song! That era is all coming back to me now... I actually quite like all those songs to be fair (Enrique had the best one though IMO)...

This was Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling 😍 Stargate weren't prominent until 2002.

I thought this thread died!

I'm similarly nervous about Fever, although less so than Light Years, because it does containt two STONKING singles. Although I really am not familiar with the album at all - I don't know why considering it was fooking massive.

TWO?

Have a word :oi:

And so it begins :D

And there's me thinking that was a COMPLIMENT

I know there was 4 or 5 singles, I think, and I can only remember 3 off the top of my head although I will remember the other one when I hear it. But I meant two in particular are 10/10 tracks.

NERVOUS?

sweetie. it's only the greatest pop album OF ALL TIME. I'd be NERVOUS about all the HOMOSEXUAL REGRET likely to WASH OVER YOU once you realise all the SLINKY FUTURISTIC FAGGOTRY you've been MISSING! in fact the most qualified DOCTOR IN TOWN will have you DANCING ON THE CEILING.

HA! WHAT!!!

Fever may have been the bigger album, but it’s not the album that low scores will most offend me

I might do that version as well at the end of the album

JUST FOR EXTRA ABUSE

1. In Your Eyes
2. Love at First Sight
3. Can’t get You Out of My Head
4. Come Into My World

But this is more in terms of how much I listen to them. I guess CGYOOMH is objectively the best, but not what I usually go for

I do believe... it's time.

00 More More More
00 Love At First Sight

00 Fever

07 More More More Well this is a surprise. I assumed this was a cover of the cheesy Andrea True disco song, but to its eternal credit it isn't... but there's a reference there isn't there? Does she credit the song because the riff is a complete lift. Anyway I thought I'd hate this but it's perfectly lovely. It reminds me of the light and air commercial house from the time which was like watered down funky house (Moony springs to mind) which I should hate but actually don't. Not a bad opener!
