07 Your Love - this is actually quite nice. STILL VERY SAFE, but a lovely dreamy pop song to bring a welcome shift from the pop dance stuff. I like the vocal arrangement here and I like the production also. Definitely not single material, but a worthy album track.

I actually think Love Affair (despite questionable fan fave status) is QUITE FLAT. or maybe just a bit cheaply produced / badly mixed. it's probably my least fave these days...
 
06 Burning Up - this is... a trip :D has she just stitched two unfinished songs together? LENNON AND MCCARTNEY COULD NEVER!

I hate the verse, and love the chorus. Maybe I need another listen to understand this and appreciate it. Again I am liking the production.

I actually feel like the whole album needs a second listen because it was such a swerve. The big mega single is actually the outlier here. It's just more dreamy safe pop bops from OUR KYLE. I don't hate, but I don't love either. Mind you was I really expecting anything else? Probably not.

Exactly. That was the point and maybe the second listen will help cement it.

Listen to it again and you'll get that it's leftie swerve + BIG pop = pure perfection aka 10/10

Deluxe summary as I already know most of these:

08 Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head - inspired. But the original is THE moment.
08 Love A First Sight (Scumfrog mix) - Scumfrog were WAY ahead of their time with the twisted disco stuff, which got big around 2005. Good stuff here.
07 CGYOOMH (Dirty Dub) - takes me back to my Ibiza days. Not really a fan of dub versions of pop songs but it probably sounds great in a big warehouse at 3am.
08 In Your Eyes (Roger Sanchez mix) - KING Roger makes everything sound better. What gorgeous production on this. Yes please
08 Love At First Sight (US radio mix) - a pointless exercise in trying to spruce up an already perfect single and ultimately spoiling it. But doesn't change too much so still good.
07 Come Into My World - oh this takes me back to some fabulous sweaty electropop nights :disco:
07 Whever You Feel Like It - I'd have taken this on the album over some other songs. At least it has a bit of energy

it's more a swerve because I was expecting a twisted dark electro pop record. I didn't get that. But I also didn't hate it. But a lot of it was safe to me. MY OWN EXPECTATIONS WERE NOT MANAGED.

Bien Sur but that's an unfair comparison because Kelly is the Queen of the B-SIDE and generous with her material and her affections towards everyone (and especially the fanbase) and Medooner has always been shitty and stingy with all of those.
If anything I'd compare Queen K to Myra Ellen aka Tori Amos as the Queen B of the Bees.

OMG Spotify just shifted to an auto play of Kylie's "Surrender" and I just CAME! :disco::disco::disco: What a discovery that was.

Let's face it gays I'm just a NINETIES QUEEN. I'll never appreciate anything after 1999 in the same way.
 
09 Good Like That - was nobody going to mention THIS? This is better than most of the album! She'll never let go of Deee-Lite will she :eyes: fuck me this is brilliant. Just call me an ALTERNATIVE KYLIE FAN.
 
08 Boy - okay so THIS is exactly what I meant in terms of expectations of the album. I was really expecting more of this. This is great. And a total precursor to what I remember of the next album, which I'm really looking forward to rating, because I do actually know some of that album. I think she got this album wrong. Tightrope, Good Like That and Boy added to the album over some of the filler would have been a very different album and all the better for it. JUST MY OPINION OKAY THANKS
