funky does Kylie: "DISCO" (2020) (1 Viewer)

Chocshit/Choclit [delete as appropriate] is a permanent fixture in my KMTop20.

And I love the sultry video

One thing is clear is that BMG are far more frugal with their studio time than Parlophone ever were. :D

There have been no "unreleased" songs from the last two albums.

No, they’re just better at leaks. She already has stated she had a whole “disco” album ready before they decided to go down the route of Golden.

I always love this kind of EDDIE post

“Wasn’t it written by…”

LIKE YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY CHECKED YOUR SPREADSHEET

Have official writing credits actually shown up anywhere though?

Here's my secret: I'm only taking home 6 tracks (7 including City Games). Will have to properly look into the b-sides, but for me this is definitely her b-game even if the effort is clearly there in places. I just think much of it could do with letting go even more. And yes, bringing the funk. As swanky as some of it is, she plays it safe and is not a follow-up to a world-conquering moment. I actually think the "bold" Slow is more of a concession to Fever tacked on, but I belaredly appreciate the execution even if, yes, I hear a re-write of The Beloved's Sweet Harmony.

Oh GOD, shall we?

Note: I have actually heard this album in full... when it came out. Barely remember it now. Will be a trip down moopy memory lane. Although I do recall liking a couple of random album tracks. And of course one BIG single.

First off a quick interlude...

09 I Believe In You - a storming pop anthem. I was in good grace with Kylie following Body Language, and this was the perfect sort of instant classic that should accompany a Greatest Hits set.
06 Giving You Up - I had to listen to this as I don't remember it at all. The vocal is a bit basic but the production saves it. A decent bop.

06 2 Hearts - this is not what I expected. This sounds more like a track from her 90s indie album. It's giving me Garbage vibes again and actually, I don't think Kylie has ever truly embraced a full album of alternative-electro music (maybe it's still to come?) and it might be worth a stab. I'm not expecting this album to give us more of this and it does go back to the point that Kylie's albums are often a bit mish mashed and lack a direction with clear conviction. Anyhoo this is an odd swerve after the last five years of imperial pop but not bad.

I loved when the single title first got out and people very briefly thought she was coming back with a Phil Collins cover :D

I still remember thinking hmmm this is a decent track but not the lead SINGAL the world wanted

04 Like A Drug - I don't HATE this, but it's leaving me very cold. The dirty synth is quite punchy and very of its time, but her vocal is a little flat. It's just kind of THERE. And it all feels like a massive shift from recent stuff and maybe that was intentional then. Less of fixing what isn't broken, and more feeling a need to keep things fresh and evolving. Let's see where it goes.

I still can’t get over that lead single.
I know this is my 300th post on the subject.
But why oh why oh why didn’t they lead with The One?

*dies a 301st time*

Oh fuck me, for a minute I forgot how much this thread makes me want to punch small children, but here we go…

The 2007 Christmas of KYLIEMANIA with X and her ratings record-breaking Doctor Who appearance really was a time of dreams for me :disco:

The One the majestic lead statement single. Followed by the anthem In My Arms, and then Wow for the fun for the public third single.
