Gavin & Stacey

The Mirror is reporting that a 'fan favourite' is unlikely to feature. Apparently that favourite is Sheridan Smith. Who would even think of her when choosing favourite chaeacters?

I was worried it was going to be Dawn & Pete when I saw the clickbait headline.

I had to think hard as to who she played. She was only in about 3 episodes wasn’t she??

Yes, she was far from my favourite when I was watching. :D I recall someone else well known playing Smithy’s mum but it’s not coming to me right now. 🤔

Pam Ferris. I certainly don't need her though - her character was far funnier when being spoken about by Pam than when she was actually onscreen.

Howling at this post I read on DS :D

I mean the only way to guarantee that this is the final ever episode of Gavin & Stacey would be to kill off exactly that the characters of Gavin & Stacey.

We don’t need to see the “deaths” and “funerals” on screen: let’s say the whole episode is set in Christmas 2023 (which coincides with Nessa & Smithy’s first wedding anniversary) and make it that G&S are driving along and are suddenly in a car accident going back to Wales, the next and final scene will be 12 months later in the present day with Pam & Mick, Gwen, Jason & Bryn and Nessa & Smithy meeting up outside Marco’s on Barry Island to mark the first anniversary of Gavin & Stacey’s death, in the place where they said “I love you” for the first time.

GRIM!

Gavin and Stacey character rank:

1. Nessa
2. Bryne
3. Pam
4. Gwen
5. Doris
6. Dawn
7. Mick
8. Gavin
9. Stacey
10. Everyone else

I have a feeling that although ratings have nosedived since the last Christmas episode this may well TOP IT! They seem to be on EVERYTHING this week.

The most watched broadcast so far this year was the England v Netherlands Euro semi-final at 13 million. It’ll top that SURELY? The 2019 episode got 17 million.

I don’t think it was 17 million live though, was it? I would think it will EASILY pass the 13 million of the Euro semi-final.

Just listening to the Off The Telly podcast Gavin and Stacey special. Natalie Cassidy said she auditioned for the part of Rudi :o

I did stand behind someone in Tesco discussing it with the checkout lady and both agreed that “Gavin and Stacey is what everyone is waiting for”…

I’m looking forward to it, but was there actually a single memorable joke or scene in the last Xmas special?

The only thing I remember about it was the cliffhanger and all the tedious discourse about the scene where they sing Fairytale of New York.

Julia Davis was far and beyond the only decent part of that last one.

I thought the last Christmas special was very good, from memory. And most of the world agreed.

Yeah, the last one was really good. I don't remember specific quotes, but I do remember most scenes.

I have never really watched Gavin & Stacey, which may be part of why I have only just realised that Ruth Jones and Ruth Wilson are not the same person.
