Paignton was closed. Torquay itself was certainly busy, but I didn't see inside the shop.
 
Have you been affected by the G7 stuff @lolly or are you miles away?

My CORNWALL GEOGRAPHY isn’t great
 
I'm South Devon, they are in North Cornwall. It's all inbreds and Tory heartlands, but two different places.

In fact Google maps tells me I'm closer to home than I am to the G7 conference. I always forget how long Cornwall is. Plus most of the roads being little more than dirt tracks that @Star refused to drive on.

An A road should have at least two lanes and street lights otherwise it's just not fit for travel.

I presume you’ve lived in a city all your life :D

I don’t think ANY of the A roads back home have street lights!
 
Really think I might walk (lollop) six miles of the SW coast path tomorrow.

Need to start seriously considering retiring down around these parts.

I'd love Cornwall, but it is just too remote. And North Devon is a lot harder to get to as well. So south Devon or Dorset looks best in that respect, and south Devon is better connected by rail.

I think I'd also like to stay near a city just for the culture (shopping). So that's really Plymouth or Exeter. And Plymouth is that bit further away, and a bit kinda Plymouthy. If we're talking Exeter, then that very much leaves places like Teignmouth, Dawlish, Exmouth, Torquay and Paignton on the list.

What I like about Teignmouth being here now is that it feels like a town with its own identity and sense of self. Obviously it's heavily dependent on tourism, but it doesn't feel like it would be soulless without it.

There's no rush, so plenty of time to think about it I hope. But if they go offering Mr L voluntary redundancy soon, this will all be up for consideration.
 
Well just make sure you have a spare room for me. From September we'll be bound to school holidays so I need cheap getaways:disco:

The good thing about Bristol property prices (never mind London) is that it's really quite pleasing seeing what we could afford!

I can imagine! I think we will retire somewhere like the IoW, where for the price of our current house we could probably buy the whole island.

It's a really dull shop. Obviously they don't make it there like you, but they don't even seem to have anything fresh out at all. Everything is in cellophaned boxes like I remember from the 80s. There's nothing to draw you in like a Roly's.

Oh their website shows they do make it! The dirty liars.

There's a fudge shop about 5 mins walk from ours in Cowes. Been there a few years. They make that soft, icing like fudge.. apparently they've been very quiet since we opened..oops.

I did send some vegans their way today tho.

Perhaps they make it themselves but offsite? Either way, it's not an attractive shop.
