What are your thoughts on GAYS ON A HEN DO? I’ve been invited to my first ONE. :shock:

Tell me YOUR EXPERIENCES?

I have to go to BERLIN, am I expected to be sassy and funny the whole trip? Can I sneak off to the DARKROOM!
 
I DIDNT GO. I told my friend I'd change the vibe too much being the only man in a room full of women and tbh I didn't really fancy it anyway.
 
I declined one this year, and thank the lord for overbooked diaries because I discovered later that they had an all-Barbie mandatory dress code.

And yes the expectation seemed to be I would basically be female the entire time.

I did also suspect sleeping arrangements would be an issue. I was not acquainted with many of the group, but it was all shared rooms. Meeting some of them later at the wedding, they admitted they wouldn't have been fully comfortable. Lots of bullets dodged.
 
See I think mine was going to be quite SANE and I was told by the bride she really wanted me there and no-one cared etc. but I just envisaged being the driver of changing the dynamic of a group of WOMEN and didn't want that to be me.
 
I did once as it was near to where I live. I didn’t really enjoy it but it was my closest friend and she’d have been hurt if I said no so we compromised and I skipped day drinks and the meal and went the final club part at the end. A couple of people (not in the group) did ask why I was there and we just told them I was the controlling husband to be.
 
Saying no is t a OPTION for me, although I have met all the others on several occasions so I don’t imagine any awkwardness.
 
I've only done a couple of local hens, both single day affairs, and quite good fun.

Me too. and the mix was girls and gays, so it didn't feel like a token Gay on the hen-do.
 
If it were a mix I'd have gone on mine. It was just that I was the sole gay/guy that I felt uncomfortable. My culture is not your costume.
 
I went ONCE but only because it was my sister and she was taking all the female cousins to Palma and since I was asked (sis gave me the job of organising the nights as some sort of important wedding role) I decided to make a holiday out of it.

So of course as I was in charge I spared her the indignity of an L-plate-angel-wings-ABBA-karaoke type of hen party and instead we went for a sunset tapas and expensive cocktails :disco:

Fun was had by all, until it got late, because it really is true that women become absolutely FERAL in the absence of (straight) men and I left early*

*went on Grindr and got a shag
 
I just think trying to have a hen do in BERLIN of all places is a disastrous idea.

Me and my boyfriend were gays at the MAGIC MIKE hen do this year. We loved it but it wasn't too big and we're super close to the bride, her mum and knew everyone there well enough.

We did this. I would have loved having so many social plans - if they didn't both clash with Melodifestivalen :argh:
 
I have done two. One was awful, one was fine. But I dreaded both.

Alternatively I've enjoyed each stag do I think, despite dreading those too and finding straight men a bit annoying.
 
I think if they insist on dragging you on a stag do, then there needs to be at the very least a bi-curious cousin who’ll slip you a length at the provincial holiday inn.
 
I’ve done loads of hen dos and I generally love them but then we’re not “typical” hen do people.
 
I also HAD a hen do.

And a stag do, a gay do, and a second stag do for a few people who couldn’t do the first!
 
Oh yeah me and Iguana did one with Magic Mike as well. It was OKAY. Magic Mike is actually a good show and Eurovision could do with going to see it instead of sticking people like MAE MULLER out there
 
I'm doing Berlin in 2 weeks - cocks not hens though :basil:

I have zero issue saying no to things of this nature. I didn't go to my brother in law's stag do and I've never even considered whether it offended him until now (it was 5 years ago though, so oh well).

I just think it's a big ask. I'm terrible for slipping away when I want to do my own thing at the best of times (let alone the worst of times, which a hen do is in my book).
 
I say enjoy it as much as you can, but prepare to play the token gay. Which is all the more fun because whenever I've been on hen-dos or girls' trips I mostly spectate while occasionally throwing the odd shady gay comment and watching what kinda commotion happens :disco:
 
My first was dreadful mostly because the Maid of Honour was a nightmare, and also because we had to play horrible games like tapping a diamanté with a magic wand in rhythm and making wishes for the bride (still have nightmares).

The second was in Vegas a few days before the wedding, and had a drag brunch, karaoke, cocktails etc, but was just largely a nicer group of people.

Whereas the stags generally feel a lot less organised in a good way and are mainly just going for drinks with maybe one activity. I had to organise one last year, went for go carting and indoor crazygolf in London, but almost needn't have bothered stressing because everyone was so laid back.

That perception may change however if I am ever asked to play horrible paintball.
 
I’ve been invited to three.
The first was in Paris and had a couple more gays so it was alright.
The second I went to because it was in Lisbon and I fancied a vacation.
The third I declined.
 
Aside from Star's (which was essentially a high profile INTERNATIONAL event) I've never done one. I've refused being a token gay on several occasions.

My own hen-stag was just my main social group united in a cottage with, booze, food and drugs.
 
I was the best man/witness at my best friend's wedding about 15 years ago and was invited to her hen do. It was fine, no embarrassing games, just a pub crawl. I did have to wear a SASH though and got some stupid comments from STRAIGHTS.
A few years ago my partner's sister in law invited us to her hen do in Carrick-On-Shannon. It sounded like hell so I declined and my partner went on how own.

Oh Brighton! I don’t remember it as a hen do though, apologies Star.

Not many hens spend the end of their evening wiping up sick off a carpet do they @Agtifa :eyes:

Or lifting someone’s head while they yack in a sink, do they @VoR :eyes:

I’ve shared SO many beds with moopy people, and hardly any of them sexual!
