I'm seeing "Everyday" instead of "Every day" quite a bit at the moment :evil:

The by accident/on purpose thing is interesting. But still, fuck off with it.
 
It's not grammar or spelling so sorry to derail the thread already (no problem) but I find it mind-boggling how there are young people living in Ireland with full-on American accents, despite not having grown up or in some cases ever been there. Just from watching Friends or whatever. :manson:
 
My main language bugbear is the use of 'like', usually by young women. And they are the demographic who drive language evolution, so it's probably going nowhere.
 
Seeing "into" instead of "in to" everywhere, including in newspapers, advertising and subtitles. I think it's one of those things that's starting to slowly morph into actual language and I'm currently exploring emergency procedures to stop it. Not ruling anything out.

"Should of" instead of "Should have" is particularly disgusting.
 
I always write "should have" but it for sure sounds like "should of" when I talk
 
I doubt I would notice any of these, and I think they're mostly just Americanisms spreading

This one! So much! See also: 'must of', 'could of', etc. The amount of EDUCATORS I know that are susceptible to these kinda mistakes is mind-boggling. No wonder I can't understand anything the youth say anymore.

I used to get annoyed by people confusing contractions/possessive forms but I try my best to let it go.

Also less vs. fewer always sticks out to me, but I think that's because I myself didn't really understand the difference until I was well into adulthood.

It's hard enough to exist in this world without being a grammar nazi but sometimes one can't help it. :(
 
One of my friends says "his" instead of "he's" and oh my god it drives me insane.

"His just going to the pub". 😬😡😬🤦🏻‍♀️

The standard ones every normal human hates, getting the "your/you're/they're/there" wrong. It's not hard.

People pronouncing it "expresso"....😡

And not grammar really, but people who start status with "when you" or "when you're"....NO!!!
 
I had an "everyday" yesterday on a newly painted sign at our local pub. WHY they don't just give it to me, I don't know. A restaurant/ pub round the corner owned by a friend lets me proofread their menu for free just cause I moaned about it every time I went in. They give me a free meal and drinks for the pair of us as thanks, so it works out more expensive than if they'd pay for it, but still...To be fair, it probably saves them money in legal fees, considering the amount of times I've spotted something labelled as vegan which blatantly has egg in it... :D
