Hacks (Jean Smart HBO Max Comedy)

How could this have passed me by? Looks good. The "you can start early tomorrow" scene from the trailer has sold me completely.

OMG were we a year behind with Hacks??

I LOVE that we're getting a new season already!

Season 3 was fucking amazing, not a bad season yet. This show is just magic.

The first two episodes of S4 were hilarious as usual and also quite sad. I do feel quite spoilt getting this season so soon after the delayed third run.

The bit with Ava on the escalator at the end of the second episode properly cracked me up.

I've seen 1-3. I do enjoy it, but it doesn't quite deliver any big pows for me. S4 does seem like the stakes could be raised quite a bit with what they're up to now (I've seen episode 1).

Spent this weekend watching all of s3 (LOVED IT) and the first two eps of s4. I fully disliked Deborah and Ava outright hating each other, so I hope that's pretty much done with as we go into the rest of the season. It doesn't allow either to shine, and I missed their usual culture clash stuff. That said, still a delightful watch.

Deborah Vance remains one of the best TV characters/performances of the decade, and Ava is an excellent sidekick/foil.

Meg Stalter... I love "Hi gay!" so much, but I really dislike her in this. The character/performance feel like they've wandered in from another, far shitter, sitcom. However the first two eps of s4 have shown a bit of an improvement in her, and I absolutely LOVE the new assistant Randi. I hope she's permanent.

LOVED the Mayor of Vegas. I hope she'll be back.

The new dynamic between leads is just making me hate Ava now. Perhaps the addition of HR lady will salvage things

The mayor needs to make another appearance.

I am not sure about HR lady as an ongoing presence.

Fingers crossed Deborah and Ava will UNITE against her and balance will be restored

This week felt like a minor dud compared to the rest of the season so far.

Dance Mom needs to be a one episode occurrence.

Neither the wine o'clock joke or the Sweden joke were funny enough to plausibly have Deborah or Ava back them to such an extent. I REALLY need them to bury the hatchet now.

My recent highlight was the sex shop cashier Vs Ava. Also enjoyed the focus group in this week's ep, and though they're a bit obvious I've also been enjoying the cameos of celebs as themselves

Four years behind but started watching this last night - we watched the first 3 episodes and had very good fun with it, love Jean Smart a lot!

The The Comeback (2005, 2014-2015) cross overs are getting more and more numerous: the hair dresser, agent, Seth Rogan and daft green screen scene. Up to the mayor's gangbang episode.

Episode 9 felt kind of like a season finale. Interested to see where they take it for the actual season closer next week.

TERRIFIC episode :disco:. Roll on next week.

No word yet on if there'll be a season 5, but I hope so - especially as the writers have said they have a 5 season arc for the show. I was thinking "oh she'll do a sitcom next" until the end scene with the 18 month non-compete clause. Assuming that's a thing, I wonder if we're heading for a s5 storyline with a roles swap, where Ava tries stand-up comedy with Deborah behind the scenes

What a FUN episode. Felt like a first draft, was clearly sponsored by the Singapore tourist board ("Welcome to Resorts World™ Sentosa Casino" said Deborah Vance, naturalistically), required leaps of faith, and felt more like a season opener following last week's finale, but I had a blast. V interested to know where s5 goes.

I love you Deborah Vance / Jean Smart 😍

Josefina's Ace Ventura comparison made me laugh out loud.

This episode was more of an epilogue to the big events last week and kind of felt like it was on fast forward at points, but those characters are so much fun to be around.

SHE'S ALIVE :disco:

kind of felt like it was on fast forward at points
At the end of the montage to The Cranberries I genuinely expected them to say that 18 months had now passed

I... think they should have just made episode 9 the finale, but it was still great. I did wonder if they got a lot of money from featuring the location, which in essence would be very much in keeping with Ms. Dance.

Trailer for s5 out, along with the sad but not too surprising news that this is the final season:

5-6 seasons seems to be the sweet spot for most TV shows TBH, and it's nice to see that streaming networks and writers respect that.

On set piece from CBS' dusty but charming Sunday Morning show

Full of excitement I just went to watch ep 1, after realising the premiere date was 9 April, and it turns out it's not starting in the UK until 17 April.

GET FUCKED, WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS

DEB AIN'T BEEN LICKED :disco:

Loved the quite unhinged Little Debbies and Aunt Lydia's very blue cameo.

This season's off to a great start. I'd have happily had the whole run be about Deborah's quest for an EGOT tbh, but didn't mind that being binned off quickly coz what's followed has been ace.

The sex worker was hot and the twist there was a great gag.

It's been great having Randi back, especially to balance out the still appalling (in Hacks) Meg Stalter in those scenes

This season is brilliant so far.

And I loved seeing 'hooker with a passport' Amalita making a surprise appearance.
