Paul Mescal's hotness [not for you] notwithstanding this is hotly tipped for many Oscars and is based on the book which I started many times and could never finish. I have a feeling it will sweep the board in award season. Certainly the BAFTAs but I fink the Academy as well.

I shall add a poll although I know it's not out yet is it.

Shockingly DULL. Has two good scenes. Paul Mescal insanely miscast. The play was fucking BORING too.

And Chloe Zhao is one of the most overrated directors of the last 10 years.

Yeah I found this quite ponderous, which is to be expected, but it rarely moved me as much as I expected.

I can't say Buckley wasn't very good, because she was, but something about her still just leaves me utterly cold.

I agree with this. She’s objectively an excellent actor but it all feels a bit calculated. I had a double bill of this and The Bride on a flight recently and she was good in both but I just couldn’t warm to her.
