MILDLY INTERESTING that they're just using that title everywhere. Congratulations to Americans for learning the word 'Philosopher' in the past 20 years
 
nothing in that trailer looks bad but why would it? they've ploughed so much money in. good cinematography at least.

they must be shitting themselves at the idea of John Lithgow popping it though. the man is 80 - multiple years between seasons? hopefully they've filmed a few KEY SCENES well in advance...

Maybe they have it in his contract that they can use CGI if he dies before it's finished.

The 3 leads have all went against her and a lot of the main older cast are dead aren’t they
 
I quite like the updated Snape look, apart from the fact that he looks about 12
 
And I can’t wrap my head around any Wizarding World content without that music. It strips away all the nostalgia which is the only reason I would even consider going back to it.
 
My boyfriend is a Harry Potter nut and on our first date I lied and told him I'd read all the books and seen all the films when I hadn't, in order for him to like me more.

I've seen a few of them but never really revisited them afterwards.
 
I've found that the easiest rage bait is to say that the movies are better than the books.

I think he has an inkling, we went to the Harry Potter shop in York a few months ago and he asked me a question that I couldn't answer so quickly changed the subject.

We have watched a few of the films together though.
 
I’m still convinced that at least the first two series will be objectively unwatchable because there just isn’t enough content in the books. It doesn’t matter because I won’t be watching it whilst JK is alive. Hopefully, I can see it on release day.
 
I loved the HP books, thought the movies were a great adaptation and some part of me that refuses to acknowledge the author had a bittersweet feeling towards that trailer.

Even though a lot of it can have some… unfavourable interpretations (goblins, fat shaming, etc) it still boggles my mind that the author can write what is by and large a “fuck bullies” series for nerds, where the evil guys are obsessed with upholding pureblood wizards/witches, and then go on to be a massive bullying campaign against those she doesn’t see as pureblood women, alienate what was inevitably a very nerd and trans heavy fanbase, and basically become the opposite of what she wrote about. Absolutely mindblowing, makes no sense whatsoever, it’s one of the biggest WTFs of this timeline that I’d never have predicted 10+ years ago.

Basically I’d love to love it. But this has all soured it and turned it into just a bittersweet “what if she hadn’t been a cunt”
 
These just seem so pointless especially now I've seen the trailer. It just looks exactly the same - the original movies were pretty faithful anyway (especially the first 2 books because of their length) so what is the actual point. That said the kid playing Ron seems a thousand times more natural than Rupert Grint in that one line in the trailer.

I love the original books and the movies were pretty good overall (from the 3rd one onwards) but I despise the woman so much and have no interest in this rehash so soon after the movies.

I’m not sure there are many supportive overtones in this thread, but surely if somebody did want to watch this then they could literally use our justification for still watching Eurovision pretty much word for word, no?

It would be bold to set it in 2026, so people have iPhones, vapes and TikTok accounts. Is there any story reason to set it in the early 90s?
