Have you ever had anything stolen from you?

I've always been terribly lucky with thieves. My bank card/wallet went missing in different cities and always seemed to end up at a police station or with someone who phoned me to let me know.

And a guy tried to mug me and demanded my phone in the dark in 2013 with a broken bottle, but I awkwardly stood there with his hand around my cuff and told him he wouldn't twice, before dislodging his hand and jogging to the next bus stop, hopping on and waving him a goodbye. Very stupid but paid off.

I suppose I've had chips stolen by seagulls.

I had a house party and someone stole my AFTERSHAVE and I still get mad thinking about it.

My first week of secondary school, someone swiped my brand new pencil case from my bag with all new stationary in it. Traumatic.

Luckily as an adult, the only thing ever pick-pocketed was a make-up bag that had nothing in it other than an eyeliner pencil and a nearly empty mascara :D

My shiny Charizard which I stupidly took to school. The guy who stole it was so brazen as well, telling me he just happened to also have one on him that day. Not that it's stuck with me or anything.

Someone broke into the staff room at work once and stole my iPod touch.

Someone I put up in my flat for several weeks when they'd been dumped and were flat broke helped themselves to a couple of rare LPs and, presumably, sold them. Annoying.

We were burgled when I was a teenager. The thief got a bottle of vodka, some stuff from the fridge/freezer and some cash. Cheeky, our cat, noted the intruder, jumped out the freshly jemmied-open window and ran to the window at my parents bedroom and meowed them awake. What an absolute dude that moggie was.

My housemate in the 90s had a party when I was away and I returned to having had a watch annd electric razor stolen along with some Madonna and Kylie CDs. They wouldn’t reveal the gay guests names for me to interrogate.

I’ve also had a bicycle stolen from outside Tesco and another from work. The latter was returned 6 weeks later when footage revealed which employee had took it.

My big sister also stole a Gloria Estefan cassette from me as a child I’m certain. I’ve decided this was to share with and impress her schoolmates as it never showed up again. Might demand the £5.49 for it this weekend.

Just my heart.

Somebody cloned my debit card and had a massive weekend party at a hotel with all of their mates, I discovered it a few days later when I couldn't pay the vet bill because all of my money had disappeared. Luckily, after a tearful phonecall to the bank they "lent" me all the money back and Visa repaid them later. It was sickening when the invoices turned up a few days later with all the rooms and the room service alcohol and food listed, strangely enough no telly porn though.

My old ASTRA was stolen TWICE, once in Oxford and once in Milton Keynes. Fuck knows why, it was an automatic and used to do 0 to 60 in about THREE DAYS

Fairly certain my Dad nicked about 90 acid off me

Lemmings for the Game Gear when I was about 10, or at least, we assumed it stolen as it just vanished from a ham radio club I took it to and couldn't be found anywhere. In hindsight surely they'd steal the console.

And around 2005 I had an Apple PowerBook, took it to work which was basically an attempt at a furniture thrift store with me also doing some PC stuff on the side - wiping old PCs putting Linux on etc. Left it on the counter in the work area (out of sight of the public generally) while I got called over to a little meeting at a desk just a few metres away. To this day I don't know how no one noticed but someone must have snuck in even though we were only metres from it and from the main entrance. Went back 10 minutes later, no more PowerBook. I'd spent months worth of pay on it, it was my pride and joy and I'd had it for precisely 14 days. Boy did that hurt. Luckily house insurance replaced it.

I genuinely don't think I've had anything nicked. Certainly nothing significant.

I can’t really think of anything except lighters in my early 20s

The only thing I can remember having actively stolen from my person is a bag of cheap booze (iirc Tesco own-brand vodka and the like!) back as a teen. Some high schooler pulled out a whole damn KITCHEN KNIFE on me and a friend when we were on our way to a house party. Poor friend was traumatised for quite some time afterwards cos he'd never imagined such things could be possible coming straight outta rural Anglesey. :(

It's somewhat amusing how I've spent a lifetime placing myself in compromised positions in some of the most questionable neighbourhoods on the planet, but it's venturing over to the wrong side of the tracks in ROYAL LEAMINGTON SPA which actually got me mugged.

I'm trying to think... thankfully not, just a few pens that people 'borrowed' in highschool and never gave back. Not a big deal though. :D
The worst was someone wearing the wrong school cardigan or skirt after PE lessons, but usually got resolved and re-swapped in the next couple of days. ☺️

Instead I end up misplacing or losing more items 😅 (including my phone a few years ago, which got handed in at a public park, plus debit card, which they'd cancelled for safety).
