This has suddenly exploded and looks set to go Top 10. First ever single, it's only been out 2 weeks. I assume it must be a TikTok thing.

Can confirm that this is popping off on TT.

Oh it appears to be a ripped Jorja Smith vocal. They must not have asked persmission. Tut Tut!

@Moderator can someone split the posts about the Haven track (post #25 onwards) as it's quite an interesting story...

There's a debate online whether it was AI or an unauthorised sample.

The OCC has suspended it from the charts!

Some artists have been posting about it on instagram saying it's a travesty for artists etc... could be a landmark moment in music vs AI.

As nice as the OCC standing up against the evil AI is, it won't be the sharts influencing this, it will be whether the Spotifys and the Apples pay out the usual royalties or not.

Well it is gone from Apple and Spotify for now, but unknown whether they did for it ethical "AI is evil" reasons or whether there was legal pressure.

To be continued

Yeah it's apparently AI!

Yes, that’s what I saw making the rounds - probably the likeliest option since none of the assumed singers wanted to claim it. Curious if/how long it takes to remove it from IG and TT given it was still flying high there.

The term "training on a voice" is incredibly dodgy territory. A soundalike is one thing, but an A.I. rip off is quite weird.

Not sure what I think about the OCC intervening. I hate that they pretended Toca's Miracle didn't exist for about a decade.

Well I severely doubt it was the former considering the amount of AI stuff that’s on both platforms these days.

It's kinda a bop, but then I read on that Reddit thread that it was digital blackface.

:ToneNervous:

As a newly minted DANCE MUSIC ARTIST with my first release out next month I am VERY ANGRY

Come in closer, know that I'm a MESS
Tangled up in wires, I can't catch my BREATH
I RUN, I RUN, I RUN

True but I guess this is the first time they've been confronted with the potential of these songs mingling with the charts and artists who look to protect their business. Most of them have been very minor additions and there's been backlash when they've been 'outed'.

Spotted the Global (ILR) chart in the paper this morning and “I Run” is listed at #4. Be interesting to see if it’ll be in the OCC midweeks later.

It’s still listed on the Radio 1 playlist, although I think they only update that once a week so it might have been officially pulled already.

Unless something has been worked out behind the scenes.

Is it the new version or are they still running with the banned version? I guess it could be either, the kids don’t care about CHARTS!

Like everything these days, it needs to be longer. I need it to slap my tits for a couple more minutes!

It begs the question, why didn’t he just do that in the first place?

So the floodgates are open

Sharting in this week's UK top 75 is a cover of an old Stromae track (Papaoutai) credited to a Mikeeysmind, Chill77 and Unjaps.

And if the names of those "artists" isn't obvious enough, they've admitted the cover is entirely AI-generated.

Time for Kate Bush and Annie Lennox to release another protest "silent album"!
