Heated Rivalry

I just realised that Rose Landry is teenage Shauna from Yellowjackets! She looks so different I didn't recognise her at all!
 
This is a bigger shock than finding out the slutty EA in Industry is Sally Draper.
 
Late to the party (haven't read any of this thread).

I watched this purely out of FOMO. Once I learned that it was written by a straight woman, it became more enjoyable. The entire show is the straight-female equivalent of two straight men going "PHWOAR!" at lesbians making out. And of course the gays are all too happy to simp for any morsel of eye candy, which means we can conveniently ignore the very valid criticisms the show has received around representation and authenticity. Since people care so much.

My favorite part is the writing. The innuendos are hilarious and clever. It really shined in Episode 5. I loved the tender dialogue in the telephone scene. And the hotel scene where he talks about his sick dad.

I didn't like the third episode. It WAS a meaningful story but for a 6-episode season, it kinda killed the momentum and intrigue for me. Not sure if others feel the same.
 
Also who in their right mind actually thinks Hudson Williams is hotter than Connor Storrie? Like who are these people?

I’ve read that they really didn’t have any hope for further seasons so they wanted to get that storyline fully covered to get the cottage storyline ramped up.

The ending of episode 5 is the moment that changes everything for the gay/bi hockey players in the subsequent books, so they needed to introduce Scott and Kip properly. Without E03 you wouldn't have that payoff with the kiss on the ice.

I mean I'll definitely tune into Season 2. It's a well-made show with really solid talent and the chemistry between the actors is undeniable. I'm just saying the show is very much what a straight woman thinks/wants male homosexuality to be. It reminds me a lot of those Fabio/Mills & Boon novels.
