Heather has announced her new album - out NEXT AUGUST (?!)
:manson:

It’s an acoustic covers album and there are a few, erm…choices

Yes, I thought there must be a misprint on the release date baring in mind she’s mentioned this for a while but seemingly not. I think it essentially just became a lockdown project while all her gigs got cancelled.

So this came out on Friday, my gold vinyl is on the way. OK, an acoustic covers set is never the most thrilling proposition but this is done well and definitely works as a mood piece.

I think @Suedey and I were discussing having met some artists somewhere, I ended up having a chat with Heather after and made her laugh talking stuff and nonsense. She was lovely, have a pic on my Insta chatting.

There are two or three songs that she should have just left alone but as an album it is a much more enjoyable listen than I thought.

Another European tour with a sprinkle of U.K. dates. Might actually try to make it this time!

The oooowooooing might be a bit on the nose, but they aren't that removed from her usual backing vocals to be fair:

I don't think it is as good as the other two songs but the album is still shaping up well.

The Lights of Sicily is my early pick of the new ones.

I do think some of her best songs for years are on this album, though I would like just a little more variation, especially in tempo.

November Skies is my standout on first listen. Gorgeous.

Yes, November Skies for me too on the first couple of plays. This album seems to be pretty gorgeous if something of a mood piece. I’d pair it closest to ‘Storm’ (which I really enjoy) from her previous works.

If live albums are your thing Heather’s ‘Live In Europe’ came out yesterday and is gorgeous. Mostly acoustic arrangements on the songs from her most recent tour, I think full band tours are beyond the budget generally these days but it’s still lovely.

* perhaps @Moderator could give this thread a more general title as a Heather source topic seeing as this is the third album discussed in here?
