Holding Space and Feeling Power in Saturday

It's 13° already here. Absolutely pissing down and meant to stay that way until Monday though

It's Mr Ag's birthday. I'm hungover and appear to have a cold in the making. A meal out last night and two today, one with his OTT family later. To boot it's pissing down.

Hand me the zopiclone.

Although I've realised I can do most of my Christmas shop on Etsy, so that's a small serotonin boost. Also it's nice to have time with my lovely husband.

We ate out in Wells yesterday, and the starter I had was buttermilk fried celeriac, and it was genuinely one of the nicest things I've ever had.

Decided today I'd try to make it myself, but after looking at the list of ingredients and method, fuck that.

The flooding overnight was terrible here in bonny Belfast.

This is the main road from the bus.

I have a pre-Thanksgiving lunch today with family and I am tempted to fake Covid to get out of it

I've just got home from a Christmas fayre we were selling out. It was inside, ISH, but our section was only sheltered by a marquee. I am so cold I can't feel anything.

But I did get mulled wine and free donuts.

Well we're less than 90 minutes from meal out number three. The hangover has shifted somewhat, but not enough to resent the inevitable 3 hour affair in a dreaded family restaurant.

What food have you eaten so far Ag? I'm already jealous.

Last night we went to an Italian and had a delicious pizza (because we were ravenous and didn't have the energy to be adventurous, despite the considerable seafood specials.

This morning we went to Bills, and inhaled a big brunch (basically a full English with everything, although I would like to register an issue with fried potatoes on my plate).

Tonight, I don't know yet. It's a really big city centre restaurant, lovely deco, but is essentially a family restaurant complete with sticky tables. The menu does look rather appealing I must say.

Teachers can get a Blue Light card now, can't they? Worth considering, particularly if you like Bill's.

Oh I've been to a Bills, once, in Southampton. I was very impressed.

God I'm hungry.

Our Bill's closed a couple of years ago.

There or Prezzo is usually where we'll end up (thanks to the Blue Light card) if we're in a shopping centre somewhere and can't be bothered to research or walk anywhere else, or are somewhere slightly challenging like Chippenham.

Oh lovely. I've just applied. They wanted ID to show and I panicked, as I'm just covering so don't have a particular school. Then remembered that I do have a contract with a school for cover, marking and invigilation. Phew.

This time of year if I go to a shopping centre I always try and get a Yorkshire pudding wrap :disco:

I don't especially care for Bills, but it's perfect for a decent brunch, which has almost become tradition to do on our birthdays.

Yeah I don't get the appeal of Yorkshire pudding wraps, as much as a roast dinner isn't complete without a pudding proper.

I did have my first mulled cider of the season yesterday though. With a double shot of cider liqueur :disco:
