where do we stand on this now?

a minor hit at the time during a backlash/flop era. quickly forgotten. I used to worship this song and took a very long break from it but lately I've been of the view again that it's a slept on classic. it's just so fun, relentlessly hooks, superbly well produced - utterly stunning job by dear old Mirwais - and with a fab video to boot.

Well produced but as a song I find it really quite lifeless.

I like it plenty, not sure it would’ve done much better than the title track if it came first but I think it would have been a smoother launch. I like that remix too, forgot what it was called.

God I just played this to confirm my opinion and was subjected to the horror show that is Iiiiiiiiiii’m So Stoopid straight after.

there are bits of a good song in I'm So STOOPID if you can get past the first minute or so

The single was a #2 in the UK which is still a good finish. I like it but dont love it. One of those instances where she’s trying to do something that was done better by other “cooler” at the time artists.

I like it a lot more these days. However, it was not strong enough to lead the album, or resuscitate it once it had flatlined.

Obviously it absolutely slaps in the context of Like a Virgin/Hollywood/Work It, so there's that.

The remix is of course a behemoth moment, but in original form I found Mirwais under the strained direction of Madge not wanting a Music Part II. So whilst it's a great headphones album, it's also kind of drab and flat compared the albums that came before it.

I completely forgot this song existed until it was used to open and close a play I saw last year called The Code.

I love the song but I wouldn’t dare call it a classic
