Everyone moaning about certain episodes being slow to run in front of a bus please. Or maybe go and watch LOVE ISLAND!

The slow episodes are the BEST episodes. Give me more side-eye glances and passive aggressive retorts, and delicious sound editing of heavy breathing as Alicent has an internal breakdown. Absolute class television. I fucking love this show.

I mean, there's slow and dramatic, and there's scheduling difficulties mean Matt Smith has another dream...
 
The politics and scheming are my favourite parts of this show and I think Olivia Cooke has been the star of this season so far.

Also I have just finished watching The Bear S3 which takes painfully slow and excruciating close-ups to a whole new level.

Saying that, I agree less of Daemon's visions please. I enjoy Matt Smith and Simon Russell Beale together but it is getting to the point where I am dreading Daemon's dream of the week.
 
Yes those dreams better have a BIG PAY-OFF SOON. I liked the episode though, GoT is a political drama first and foremost so if you don’t like the SCHEMING I don’t know what you want.
 
Up to speed now and I can't believe how boring this show is. Judging by the "cliff hanger" of the most recent episode, we have an episode of them looking through scrolls of NOBODIES who can ride dragons..great :eyes: I'm reading A Clash of Kings at the moment and even reading the dullest chapters of that is more entertaining.
 
I'd rather they have done some plotting. This season hasn't been great pacing-wise and I've learned my lesson for next time, which is to wait until all episodes are out.
 
Every time I see Alicent Hightower on screen I keep wondering why they chose a 30 year old actress to play a grandmother.

Especially when one of her sons is 29 years old.
 
Another great episode! I preferred last week's but it was nice to see a bit more pace this week. I don't really care for Daemon's Haunted House scenes, it kinda reminds me of Daenerys searching for her stolen dragons or Arya trying to become faceless, I feel like they like to drag out a subplot to the point of it becoming a meme, which they need to be a bit more aware of. But apart from that everything is so good this season.
 
These next two episodes should be good, though the story the show is based on “The Dance of Dragons” is 70 pages long, it’s more of a chapter than a book. So I do understand why they’re having to drag it out to presumably get four seasons out of it.
 
If they had taken this story over 1 season and just shown the highlights - the battles and the coronations and the deaths - it would have been fucking awful.

None of it matters without the context.

I'm still wondering where I missed the part where we were told that King Viserys had a sister who was a prostitute with bastard silver haired children!

I mean the Queen is busy rifling through OLD SCROLLS and she could have just gone on to Whatsapp and messaged the FAMILY GROUP.
 
Some of this family linage/bastard parentage stuff is harder to follow than the combined family tree of Eastenders families.

Who the hell is Baela? I don't recall seeing her ever.

I'm going to re-watch episode 7 anyway as I didn't quite catch the pub scene discourse.

Talk about stepping it up. I loved that scene, unfortunately they then went right to yet another Daemon vision.

Alicent's away day at the lake was kind of odd but I didn't mind it.

All the dragon stuff was very impressive. Only one episode left and then another wait of a couple of years.
 
I do think it will be at least late 2026 because A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set to debut in 2025 and will presumbaly be much of the same production crew/facilities as HoTD.
 
This gap between seasons now is ridiculous. I find shows lose a lot of momentum when they drag out production schedules.
 
Feeling mildly stressed about having to go to work tomorrow and finding time to watch the Olympics as well as the finale of this.
 
I’m staying up with a mate to watch it live! Sweets and chocolate at the ready! Let’s go :disco:
 
I get that this episode was putting in place all the pieces for the next season, but seeing as that’s 2 years away I would’ve liked something vaguely exciting to happen this episode!
 
At least show us Rhaena on her new dragon! Apparently we saw Alicent’s mysterious third son on his dragon at the end, but we were given no context to understand that!

Loved the episode because the ACTING was next level, but I would have liked some sort of big cliff hanger at the end. Instead they went for the GOT S6 ending of setting the board for all the players. It looked nice but felt like it was missing something.
 
It was the best scene by far, but I am finding it quite amusing that Alicent can seemingly just pop over to Dragonstone for a chinwag whenever she likes. :D
