And it's nice to be in the minority for a change rather than on VR where it's mostly 20somethings and I worry about being some old pervert.

I’m thirty but I feel they haven’t truly started yet because of the pandemic (my 30th birthday was literally five days before the first lockdown - everything was cancelled and it was too early in the pandemic to plan a virtual alternative).

Every few weeks I have a small inner crisis about still being in a flatshare with a bunch of twentysomethings but then I just get on with things.

I also feel like the concept of age is a bit more messy if you’re LGBT. Come out late as gay or trans and it almost feels like going through adolescence again. Coming out as gay at 24 and then having revelations about my gender identity at 30 means I am potentially not quite as settled as some my age.

I think this can apply to almost anyone who defies those age-based “marriage and kids” expectations though.

Just turned 39 and don’t feel it at all. It’s weird how mentally you don’t feel any different from how you were at say 25, but at the same time can’t relate to a bunch of 25 year olds, feeling far more comfortable hanging out with the over 50s.

Now being at an age when I remember my own parents at this age, I can’t help comparing. As both my parents lost their parents really young, I suppose they had to grow up a lot faster, whereas I still go to visit my mum and have her cook for me
