I did this in two halves, and was surprised how much I enjoyed it! That’s not meant to be shady, I think I didn’t reeeeally understand what PC music and hyper pop was, and while I’m still fairly illiterate on that front, I realise it was something different to what I imagined
I didn’t realise PC Music was a label for a start, when you talked about it I assume it was like bit-tune
like literal PC Music
And the only name I really attached to this sort of music was Sophie, and tbh I was a little intimidated by their songs I’d heard. A bit too industrial and abstract for my bland ears, but I loved that one with the clouds.
As for the rest, it was a lot more accessible than I expected, and your description of what it was all about was very illuminated, and as a pop kid of the 90s/00s, it sounded quite punk to sort of tell the snobby British music press to fuck off and turn the artificiality through the roof, but without alienating crappy little flowers like me.
