I wouldn’t normally do this kind of Sunday

I went out for lunch with Old Ellen with every intention of not getting drunk, spent £186 between us JUST AT LUNCH and got in at 1am.

MORNING

You have to admire that.

I'm having lunch with a old pal today as well but I'm still on the wagon.

Yeah, I’m not drinking today, let’s put it that way

I think I might LIE IN BED this afternoon and watch BLACK NARCISSUS :lolly:

Spent the morning in the sun/under my car being as much of a white mid 30s suburban stereotype as I can possibly be.

Now off to the pub because I'm not a lightweight. Lads etc.

Do you guys have actual sunshine AND warmth? It is quite mild and here, but it is disgusting overcast.

Its sunny and warm enough to leave your coat off here. I can show off my new cardigan :disco:

What a LOVELY weekend, despite it mostly being HOUSE CLEANING, I have to three pubs, including two beer gardens. PLEASANT!

It's gorgeous here which makes a nice change. Not quite warm enough for just a t-shirt as I'm still a bit nesh but t-shirt and light cardigan is fine. There were several men at Tesco wearing shorts and t-shirt.

The hawthorn bushes on the other side of my back fence were completely bare twigs yesterday morning and today they're covered in buds. Nature's wonders.

Lovely afternoon for me. Vegan steak and eggs - which was absolutely nothing like steak or eggs, consisting of seitan and tofu but was, nonetheless, just right. Am also now the proud owner of this:

That like is for the candle. Absolutely not the meal.

This is why I couldn't do vegan.

What the fuck is THAT? Is it all "cheese"? The last one can't be...it looks like sand.

The only reason I went for the vegan option was because all the vegetarian options had bloody avocado in them and I've never liked avocado.

I had a halloumi and avocado muffin yesterday lunch time. It made me think about going veggie again for a couple of hours.

I mentioned here last week how I'm eating less and less meat and this weekend I've eaten out entirely and had meat all the time. Yet at lunch at my Mother's today, the lamb actually made me feel queasy and I ended up palming it off on Mr Sheena. And I fucking LOVE lamb. I'm wondering if I'm going to go off meat altogether...

I've been considering doing one vegan main meal a week, but I rather suspect I probably almost do anyway. Besides life is complicated enough.

I probably eat vegan a lot, just by accident. Certainly vegetarian. In a typical week i will only eat meat once (or more typically, fish)

I love lamb as well, but I can't remember the last time I bought it. I only ever have it for Sunday lunch at mother's or occasionally if eating out. I'd be surprised if I've eaten it more than two or three times in the last year.

Yeah, the good thing about the increase in popularity of vegetarianism and veganism is that shops are noticeably stocking more and more that doesn't contain meat. We're consciously trying to eat less anyway, but increasingly so I'm finding we're eating veggie meals without actually planning to - it just happens.

And when eating out now it's a lot easier to eat veggie or vegan, even if you're in a non veggie place. Most places have realised you can't just offer one veggie/vegan option any more and hope to attract business. And it's usually something a lot more inventive than a veggie burger or veggie lasagne, which it always seemed to be for years until the dreaded goat cheese tart took over.

I eat a reasonable amount of meat. Although often not until the evening meal. It's easy to avoid for breakfast and lunch. To be fair I'm probably only vegan at lunch time.

I'll do veggie lunch quite happily. If I'm buying a sandwich I'll skip meat without problem. But I'll be buggered if I'll cut out cheese.

Vegetarian came very naturally to me...I almost just realised one day that meat had almost entirely fallen out of my diet. But vegan was bloody difficult and I didn't enjoy it at all. I can have a full vegan day without really noticing but doing it for a protracted period was hard, very restrictive and ultimately tediously repetitive.

I didn't think I could give up meat entirely until today's lunch revelation- I certainly won't be able to be 100% vegetarian. I will never not want proper, beefy gravy, for example...

Or risotto. I've spent years eating risotto at Christmas parties.

My precious little kitty has gone to stay at the in-laws for 24 hours. I feel like I've lost a child.
